For those of you who didn’t get a chance to catch The Streamy Awards last month, this is pretty much what it was like.

Sorry!  Couldn’t resist taking a shot at that production again.  But seriously, when I watch the above video it really captures that night…except the awards show had a lot more penis references, nudity, F-bombs, porn jokes, molestations, pimps…also there was no food, and the valets lost some cars…but the video is still pretty close. Anywho, the reason I bring this up is there is some politic’n going on between the Streamy’s and the IAWTV.  I think the wonderful Casey Mckinnon breaks it down nicely on her blog.  Check it out and let me know what you think. – Todd

Here is a small, semi-amusing story for you.

I am a big fan BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.

As you may know, Katee Sackhoff (StarBuck) is a friend of mine.

A while back she told me she had to go perform part of a song with Bear McCreary (the guy who composed BSG’s soundtrack) at a concert and was a little nervous about it.

She doesn’t normally play the piano, but in the concert, she needed to sit down next to Bear and play the opening part with one hand.

The song she needed to play was from the BSG soundtrack, a song specifically made to be a part of her character’s past and a song that was relevant to the entire race of Cylons. It is called “Kara Remembers.”

Anyway, in the television series,Kara ‘StarBuck’ Thrace  (Katee) spends a whole episode trying to remember the song from her childhood and sits in front of a piano hoping to bang it out.

So what was cool to me about the concert she was heading to, was that it was life imitating art – she really was going to sit down and struggle to remember how to play the song from the series – which basically was going to cause her to have to reenact her scene from the series, although this time it would be real. Very ironic and cool.

Here is a video of what happened (you only need to watch the first 2 mins):

Anyway, at the time it got me thinking how cool that song was, and although I didn’t know how to play it at the time, I thought I could figure it and and sorta make my own version/interpretation. So that night I sat down for an hour and made a quick attempt.

When I finished, I showed it to Katee who thought it was cool and after that the song just has been sitting on my desktop – so I thought I would just share it with the BSG fans out there who might appreciate such a thing.

Here it is below!

Now its time to get back to my STREET FIGHTER SONG….;)

I got this in my inbox. There is so much WIN in this I had to post it.

This is a message from jacehallshow.us:

Kick Ass Nam
Message
Dear Jace,

I used to live in a town and went to a school district that had no other Jace’s there. I would always get mad whenever putting my name onto a word document and it would say it was misspelled, or just the fact that i had a “weird” name that no one else had (unlike those REALLY weird names like Shaniqua and stuff). Than I moved to a new town that had another Jace, but he was kind of weird, than 2 years later ANOTHER Jace (except he spelled it Jayce) moved in, he was also kind of weird. It was cool to have people you know with the same name, but nothing special, until I got my twitter account. You, yourself followed me. At first I thought it was kind of weird until I found out you were famous. I was so amazed that I told everyone at my school about it. So I just wanted to thank you for having such a Kick ass name. (Sorry my story  was so plain, I just wanted to show that it was cool that I had the same name as you)

Sincerely,
Another member of the Kick Ass Jace Club

How do I tell him that my name is actually JASON and JACE is just my nickname…?

Some of you may know that I am A Street Fighter 4 fan.

I’ve actually been working on creating the penultimate STREET FIGHTER SONG that I will be releasing soon (more on that later…)

Anyways, tonight there was a kind of secret party held by CAPCOM (the makers of Street Fighter 4) where select hard core fans could attend, play the game and witness competitive exhibition matches between some of the best Street Fighter players on Earth.

We were  lucky enough to get a VIP invitation and so we went to check it out and shoot some stuff for future episodes of the Jace Hall Show!

Anyway, two of the best players on Earth sat down to play a series of exhibition matches, and basically went back and forth in terms of wins and it all boiled down to one final match.

The huge crowd was watching and the final moments were captured in the video below:

IT WAS ABSOLUTELY EPIC!!!

This is what makes gaming so fun and great! LUVS IT!

I ran into Daigo while I was there and made him understand that if he even dreamt that he could beat me at STREET FIGHTER IV he would need to call me an apologize profusely… I rule all in that game. :)

The other day I posted an article answering a site visitors questions and basically fell into a diatribe about how a person should always try their best at things and build their self-worth around that core personal measurement. I said that the act of attaining a goal isn’t as important as what you do to get there. Etc. Etc.

In any case, this article spawned some great discussion around the net – but there was a response that someone made in the comment thread about my article that I feel I need to address and clarify – so below is the comment and my answer to it!

New comment on your post #1160 “Ask Jace: How I do it – Keys to Success Tip #1

Jace article quote:

>”you must NEVER measure yourself by whether or not you accomplish the goals

> you set.”

Matt says:

This “everyone who tries is a winner” idea does not help. It just promotes the

entitlement delusion. Sure, you can feel good knowing your did your best but

you are still a loser if you did not succeed.

Dear Matt,

I am glad you brought this up. That way, I can clarify – because you are misinterpreting my message (although I can see why)..

First off. Entitlement is generally a bad thing. I don’t believe in it really. I think that regardless of a person’s achievements and record, one should always feel thankful and honored to receive anything – not feel entitled to things.

The idea that everyone who ‘tries’ is a winner is not what I am attempting to communicate.

The act of trying is NOTHING if it is not your absolute best.

Making an effort versus making your BEST effort are two different things. You always know when you did your absolute best. When you truly have done that, you always feel good about yourself and your attempt. That feeling, is not about feeling like a “winner” – its different than that.

If a person truly understands and applies what I’m saying, then the feeling of being a “winner” will become unimportant to them, because being a “winner” requires an external acknowledgment and the focus should be on the personal internal acknowledgment and feelings of self-worth. It’s about truly liking yourself, respecting yourself. Keeping your own score on yourself, and pushing yourself harder and harder – which in turn makes you like and respect yourself more.

The act of simply participating in something is worthless unless you are giving it your all.

And THAT is the disconnect I have with your interpretation of what I am saying…

Your quote “everyone who tries is a winner” seems to imply that the mere act of participating at something should make you feel like a winner, like you are doing something…. No, it shouldn’t.

We know that we can participate in something and put a half assed effort in. We should never feel good about that – EVEN IF WE WON AND ATTAINED THE GOAL.

“WINNING” is irrelevant if it did not require your best effort to achieve it.

The philosophy and practice that I am talking about in my article is focused on slowly building a feeling that is incapable of generating entitlement issues – because the better you feel about who you are as a person, the less interested you become in receiving external validation.

Entitlement is a form of external validation that is the result of core insecurity.

I agree with you that telling someone they should feel like a winner just because participate is #FAIL – but I wasn’t trying to say that. I apologize to everyone for not being more clear.

I hope that helps clarify… or maybe I just confused you and others even more!

YAY – two things I like coming together:  Playing WOW and The Jace Hall Show

Behind every successful star stands a savvy, creative, inspired producer. In the case of TV and video game producer Jace Hall (The Jace Hall Show), that producer is Todd Roy. Todd pretty much epitomizes today’s casual yet completely gung-ho WoW player — only he does it from a perspective that includes rubbing elbows with some of the most well known figures in gaming and geekdom today. We talked to Todd about finding time for WoW while working a Hollywood-paced schedule, cracking up over Stan Lee’s infectious laugh and whether or not Olivia Munn really is that hot in person … All after the break.

Click here to see the entire article

The amazing Lisa Poisso wrote up a nice little article about my World of Warcraft habits and what I do  for and my experience with The Jace Hall Show.  Hope you give it a read and find it a tiny bit funny!  Thanks Todd

I received this letter the other day and I wanted to answer it but share my response with everybody because I get a lot of e-mails that are very similar.

From: Cyrus

Subject: INSPIRED O.O by youu, sir.

Message Body:

FIRSTLY!

i wonder if jace hall actually reads this…if not i will sound lame. =]

MAINLY!

just wanted to say ive been inspired by you (if you’re actually reading which i doubt as you seem to be rich and famous and have no time for fans ‘SADFACE’)

Anyways, yeah my outlook on life has been that of generally to be successful you need to be hardworking and have little time for your life. But you’ve been the CEO of companies and produced massive amounts of games and still are able to be seemingly carefree and stay positive (not in the please dont commit suicide way, but in the life is wtfpwning amazing way….if you understand.)

TO THE POINT

As i am still in school i wanted to know what subjects to take (high school or university) that are related to the whole aspect of game designing…..because i am generally uninspired by school and enjoy playing wow too much -.-” but i am on the verge of an epiphany that will make me…work hard. SOUMUSTREPLY =]

PS im not crazy, just eccentric when it comes to writing letters. =]

PSS i REALLY hope you (jace hall) reply instead of an automated….computer thing..

Dear Cyrus,

First of all, YES, I do read and try to answer all the e-mail I get. Sometimes it takes me a while to get to it, but I really try to get to it all. No “automated….computer thing…” YET!

Now on to some answers.

Let me just say that it is an honor to hear that I inspire you. I appreciate you telling me that and although I don’t believe myself to be better than anyone else or in the business of trying to be “hey look at me I am all that,” it is always nice for any person to know that they are making a contribution to the world by inspiring someone else in a positive way. I am just glad that I am being moderately useful in some way! I am happy to be of service.

You mention that I seem to be rich and famous. Well, I can assure you that I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination. I still have to work, have a house payment and bills and etc. Yes, I have had some limited success but I still have a long way to go and would have to shift my focus if my desire was to become “money rich.”

While I am on the subject of “money rich” I’d like to offer a few thoughts.

I personally do not base my feelings of success or failure on pure economics. Some people do, and to each their own – but for me it is never about the sole pursuit of acquiring “money.” Certainly, what is worth doing is worth doing for money, but my life’s experience has taught me that the true value of one’s self-worth is not measured in gold pieces but in personal achievement instead.

There is nothing wrong with money. Obviously you need it to survive to a certain extent and that is ok. However, of the many people that I know who have more money than they can ever spend, few actually have positive feelings of self-worth. Quite the opposite actually and a lot of times this results in self-destructive behavior. Having lots of money can free up a lot of mental time, and people can use that mental time to hate themselves even more than they normally would. The image of having lots of money can seem to project that you can be happy and carefree, but I assure you that money alone doesn’t give you those things. So it is for these kinds of reasons, I simply do not pursue “having lots of money” as a sole goal.

Personal achievement, on the other hand, is nearly ALWAYS fulfilling. Money can come and go, people can forcibly take money from you, but personal achievement LASTS FOREVER.

It’s yours. Permanently. No one can take your achievements away from you. Your achievements are your truth and they will continue to pile up and build your self-esteem and help you feel your own self-worth and importance regardless of what others my think.

Personal achievement is one of the true values of life. And here is something to think about: Many people believe in some form of afterlife. Most of these beliefs revolve around a person somehow retaining their consciousness, essentially who they are, AFTER they die. If this is the case, then clearly the ONE THING YOU CAN TAKE WITH YOU AFTER YOU DIE ARE YOUR EXPERIENCES – SUCH AS YOUR PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS. So in my book, that makes something like personal achievements seem like a good investment (just in case.) One thing we all know for sure is that YOU CAN’T TAKE YOUR MONEY WITH YOU.

The best part about all this is that YOU decide what achievements you want to accomplish. There are no rules. There are no wrong answers. You just need to figure out what pursuits are important to you. You decide which things you enjoy doing and make you feel good. Then you just set some simple step by step goals and work toward them. That’s it.

And now for the biggest secret and most important point of all. PLEASE LISTEN TO ME ON THIS:

While it is important to set goals and work toward them you must NEVER measure yourself by whether or not you accomplish the goals you set.

What you must measure yourself by is whether or not you did your very best to TRY to accomplish them. It is CRITICAL that you understand the difference.

As long as you know that you are doing the best that you can to get to your goals, IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU ACTUALLY GET THERE. The personal achievement is ALWAYS IN THE EFFORT NOT IN THE RESULT. You will never feel bad about yourself if you truly know that you have been and are doing everything you can/could to reach your target.

The only time you will feel bad is if you know in your heart that you could have tried harder, and have a bunch of excuses. THAT is what kills you, not the fact that you didn’t achieve the end result.

So in summary, the basic goal you should have for all things you consider is this: JUST DO YOUR BEST. I MEAN REALLY DO YOUR BEST. If you do that, amazing things will happen for you – a lot of it will be unexpected awesome stuff. I promise. Remember, THE JOURNEY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE DESTINATION IN ALL CASES.

I have written the long winded diatribe above in order to answer the next question you had for me. You tell me you are in school and you want to know what classes you should take to pursue a career in game design…

Most people would just tell you to take some set of standardized classes, pat you on the head and send you on your way, but I don’t want to do that. I want to teach you “how to fish” so you can eat for the rest of your life, instead of just “handing you a single fish” so you can eat for a day.

So here is my answer: It doesn’t matter what classes you take. Really. If you have an interest in game design, figure out what aspect of game design interests you most, set some simple goals that are interesting to you in that area (make them up!) and start doing your best to figure out how to get there and DO NOT STOP. There’s no formula. Buy a book, take whatever class you feel might apply, get some game that has an “editor” and start making maps. Grab a notepad and just start writing a design you believe in. All are stepping stones to your desired interest. Keep pursing it, step by step. You will get there. I promise –  and if you don’t, as long as you keep giving it your ALL, you will not feel bad about it in any single way. There is no standard format to personal success other than doing your best at all times. That act alone instant makes your successful, every day.

There are no rules, only the limits of your own mind perceiving yourself trapped in some kind of pre-arranged societal program that everyone seems to buy into because they are told to and it seems easier – it’s not. Nothing worth having is easy to get. Prepare for pain and suffering and challenges and love every minute of it because when you look back you will realize that those are the fun parts!

Most people define themselves and their world by what they CAN’T do. Step one: Unlearn that. Define yourself by what you CAN do and know that you can do what you set your mind to. That is what I have always tried to do.

Case in point (I won’t get into the gritty details now but:) I had a less than stellar childhood, no money at all, and never took a computer class in my life – YET, I can program in BASIC, C, C++, MOS 6502, Motorola 6800 and Intel 8086 Assembly language. No classes, no teachers, just a desire for personal accomplishment in that area. If I can do that, ANYONE CAN.

Know this – He/She who is most determined in a battle will always eventually win no matter how strong the opposition.

Hope that helps!

Apparently YouTube.com makes special music selections and recommendations every Tuesday.

They call it “Spotlight: Music Tuesday” and they feature FOUR of their top choices on the front page of YouTube.com.

The Jace Hall Show’s “I Play W.OW.” music video was chosen for this prestigious spotlight! W00t!

Here’s what they say on their site:

“Whether you’re addicted to faux farming on Facebook, in love with Twitter or fully invested in your World of Warcraft life, we hope you’ll find this collection of social-media inspired music is something worth sharing.”

I love the fact that we are listed right next to Justin Bieber’s “One Time” music video. We have arrived!! ;)

As the producer/director/editor and sometimes talent (HAHAHAHA) on The Jace Hall Show I feel it my duty chime in here.  First off, I love the site.   For the last couple of years the Jace Hall Show has been scattered over multiple websites and destinations. geo-blocked for some, and hard to find for others.  But now, after months of testing and tweaking, we have a single location to showcase all the hard work we did to bring The Jace Hall Show to life.  If you are new here, I hope you stay awhile.  Second off, I’m going to start posting articles on here but my brain works very different than Jace’s (something we are both happy about) While he may enjoy bringing a thoughtful, cerebral level of dialog and discussion to surround his postings, my A.D.D. forces me to find stuff that is more on the silly/OMG/WTF side.  The Internet is awesome.  For example, if the internet didn’t exist,  would we ever have learned how to make Iced Tea from this creepy dude?

- If any of you find weird videos, please post them in the fourms. Thanks. Todd

Before I went into the Streamy award presentation and experienced an enormous letdown, I took some time to walk the show’s red carpet to meet with people and do a few interviews.

Here is one of the interviews I did. I almost sound like I know what I am talking about but we all know better than that now don’t we..?

I tried to offer a little advice and quick insight into how to take steps to create and produce your own web series. #FAIL

This article really doesnt’ have anything to do with Internet web media or video games or tv or movies. So what, I think that the people who visit this site are intelligent and sometimes we like to think about stuff just because…

Before I rant, I need to be clear here…

I like the idea of traveling safely. Particularly when traveling on an aircraft.

I like the idea of Airports and Airlines taking appropriate measure to ensure everyone’s safety.

You probably have similar feelings.

HOWEVER, WHAT I DON’T LIKE IS THE FUNDAMENTAL IDEA BEHIND THE APPROACH THAT IS BEING UTILIZED BY AMERICAN AIRPORTS AND AIRLINES TO “ENSURE” THE SAFETY.

The question is “why” I don’t like it.

Is it because I object to people being scanned? No.
Is it because I object to bag x-rays and physical searches? No.
Is it because of the long lines and general inconvenience of the process? Nope.

The reason I don’t like it is because the basic concept behind the approach being taken is STUPID, mostly USELESS and incredibly ineffective at actually creating any real “safety” whatsoever.

Let me explain:

The Airport’s current safety philosophy is primarily focused on preventing certain kinds of things from being brought on to planes. They are trying to stop STUFF FROM GETTING ON. Seems sensible, right? umm NO.

While it is good to keep an eye on what items get on to a plane, if the focus was TRULY on safety, the entire security paradigm would shift away from primarily looking at the STUFF getting on the plane and instead focus on looking at THE PEOPLE GETTING ON THE PLANE.

STUFF doesn’t do anything. It’s the PEOPLE who bring the stuff on the plane with the intent to use said stuff that security should be worried about.

Think about it. I could give you (and most normal people) a backback FULL of Dynamite and you would get on a plane, travel to your destination with absolutely no intention of blowing yourself (or anyone else) up. There would be no problems at all.

I could load you up with all kinds of guns and weapons and you would travel just fine. Some of you (if your American) have guns in your cars and houses right now. You are not running around and shooting people are you? No.

This is because you have no INTENT. The STUFF you have on you, is irrelevant – it is YOU that matters in the equation.

Conversely, I am 6’7″ and 240 pounds of pure muscle mass. I am ex-Marine corp. Most humans are physically weaker than me – and I can easily get a front row first class seat on any plane. So if I WANTED to, the second the pilot opens the door of the cockpit to use the restroom, and the flight attendant tries to “block” for him – I could get up and take over that plane in less than 10 seconds. I need no STUFF to do that and therefore the ENTIRE SECURITY SYSTEM AT THE AIRPORT COMPLETELY FAILED.

Of course I have no intention of EVER doing such a thing – but under the current approach to security, there is no emphasis on looking for and preventing people with BAD INTENT from getting on a plane. As long as a person isn’t carrying any objectionable STUFF on them, they get to fly! What is to stop a BIG motivated terrorist-type? Nothing. Except me, if I happen to be sitting up front in that flight..! ;)

Building a system around looking for and preventing high risk people from boarding plane is an entirely different task and challenge and of course more expensive, but it is the only real way to ensure true safety.

In my opinion, the Israelis actually have the best airport security practices. They are focused primarily on PEOPLE, with STUFF being secondary. You can imagine how many challenges they face, and they seem to do a great job meeting them as I’m not hearing about Israeli planes blowing up or crashing all the time…

But then of course I realized, the real interest in American Airports is not in producing actual safety…

Every different way I look at it, the American Airport approach to safety is to clearly designed just to create the FEELING that you are safer, and that is ALL.

Why? Mostly because it’s cheaper.

So all this crap we go through at the airport is just a show. Really. I’m serious. You’re not really much safer. STUFF gets on the planes all the time regardless. Many of you have probably accidentally brought one of those “banned” items on board and realized it after you landed and unpacked… Know what I mean?

I think we are not fooled, and are smarter than this, and that is why I have added this article to my new category “World of Dumb.”

Agree? Disagree? Speak!

The 2010 Streamys Award Show Disaster

I have to say something. I just have to…

I just got home from the 2nd Annual 2010 Streamys Award Show. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it is an award show aimed at recognizing achievement in the area of  Online “Web Series.”

Fundamentally, the award show is supposed to draw attention to successful content creators of this new media generation and kind of act as a legitimizing event – essentially telling the world (read: Traditional Hollywood) that those who are dedicated to the art of producing this type of content are serious, qualified, creatively on the cutting-edge, and should be respected.

Aside from creating awareness, the show aspires to be a beacon of quantification, allowing content producers as well as advertisers to be able to point at it and use it as an example to create greater comfort in investing more money and resources toward  the medium in general.

The hope is that among the randomness and chaos that the corporate world and common citizen perceives the internet to be, at least one show, THE STREAMYS”, could stand tall with credibility and aspirational purpose. After attending last year’s 1st Annual Streamy Award Show I thought things were off to a decent start…

With that being said…

I sat down in the VIP section (thank you Shanna!) and eagerly awaited the show experience.

Without going into hyper detail, here’s what basically happened:

1.) The show started with a musical number that I couldn’t hear well because the acoustic set up was too soft and echo-ish. I was in the front row, mind you.

2.) The bad jokes began. I thought at first it was just going to be a passing moment, but no, the bad jokes kept coming and coming. When I mean bad, I mean “forced” and unnatural and just trying too hard. I can forgive this because that’s how most award shows are, so that part is ok. What I could not forgive, was what happened next…

3.) The computer that was running the main display screen for the show, seized up and crashed. This happened RIGHT in the middle of a video presentation. It was at this point that the Streamys began to fall apart.

Everyone stood around stunned and not knowing what to do. The host of the show came up to the microphone and started to crack jokes. Since the jokes he was saying were not written on the teleprompter, they were actually funny.

We sat around for 5 minutes or so wondering if they were going to fix the computer and then all of a sudden TWO BUTT NAKKID DUDES COME RUNNING PAST ME AND ON TO THE STAGE. They dance around uncontrollably for a few moments, swinging maximum dongage at the audience and then ran away.

Kevin Pereira, co-host of G4 Channel’s “Attack of the Show” was sitting next to me and actually HI-FIVED one of the nakkid dudes as he ran by. I looked over at Kevin and he was laughing in disbelief as we sat together watching the Streamy Award Show go off the rails.

After this, it was just a mess. There were numerous false starts with the video display and when they got it working they would accidentally play the wrong segment on the screen and have to stop it.

The whole timing of the show was off at this point. There was no real recovery.

I think the lowest point of the show was when they had a fake pimp come on stage with two “hotties” and essentially be as foul mouthed as possible.

I couldn’t believe it. Here was an opportunity for internet content creators and the industry to shine, and we get a foul mouthed pimp delivered to us who actually compared the “Streamys” to a type of orgasm. Unbelievable.

Generally, the language and sexual overtones of the entire event were inappropriate given the way the Streamys had been promoted. I think some nominees were taken aback somewhat by the direction and were alarmed because they had brought their family to support them.

After the show, the audience chatter and gossip was not good. People seemed to be very disappointed and many were appalled. I heard discussion that one of the big sponsors of the event TRIDENT GUM was SUPER PISSED and basically wanted their money back ($100,000 – I’m told). If this is true then that is a very negative blow for the “Web Series” industry. TRIDENT is a great sponsor to have, and in my opinion they should be encouraged not put off.

KODAK, another major sponsor ( they were actually giving away digital video cameras!) had to have been upset too. I just don’t see how this show helped them at all, but that is just speculation on my part.

I feel that it is very unfortunate that the 2nd annual 2010 Streamy award show turned out like this. I know it must be hard to plan a good show, but  there must have been something better to choose from than an act involving 2 women in dresses, fake kung fu fighting and crashing into a big fake Streamy Award trophy. Is that really how the industry wants to be perceived?

The whole thing just felt like a big missed opportunity to me. I like to support innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurmanship – and I am a BIG believer in the future of web content and the idea of an award show like the STREAMYS – but when I see execution like this it tends to make me believe that the “Web Series” business is just not quite ready for prime time yet on a larger scale.

I took a look around the net to see if anyone had commented on what happened yet and I found a bunch of commentary indeed. One person said this of the show:

It was a total setback. I was there. I produced one of the shows that was up for 3 awards tonight. I was embarrassed to be there. What were the writers/producers thinking? There better be a lot of heads rolling on the chopping block tomorrow morning at Streamy headquarters.
I hope this year’s awful show doesn’t jeopardize the future of the Streamy’s. Web content should be taken seriously because it is a serious business. Boo to this years production team. Boo indeed.

You can see more of those comments here:

Someone even did a top 10 list

I’m sure other people will comment on the event, some positive, some negative, and my hope is all this discussion will result in an improved show next year. I do want the Streamys to succeed.

The Evolution Championship Series is an annual console video game tournament. It is commonly referred to in fighting game communities as simply ‘Evo‘, and currently is the premier video game tournament for fighting games in the United States.

The tournament started as a 40-man Super Street Fighter II Turbo tournament in 1995 in New York City, eventually moving to its recurring venue in Las Vegas. Over time, the tournament grew, recording over one thousand participants in 2009.

In 2004, at Evo, a battle of epic proportions took place.

Top competitors Daigo Umehara and Justin Wong met in the Street Fighter III 3rd Strike finals and one of the most dramatic comebacks in video game history occurred.

In the final round of the match, Daigo (who was playing as “Ken”) was down to his last pixel of vitality. Trying to take advantage of this, Justin attempted to ‘chip’ Daigo for the win with his character’s (Chun-Li) hou-yoku-sen move, since it still deals about 9% damage when blocked. Daigo stopped Justin dead in his tracks by parrying all fifteen hits of Chun-Li’s super, including a near impossible jumping parry on the last hit, then comboed into his own super (the shippuu-jin-rai-kyaku) to deal just enough damage to steal the game. The cameraman (Seth Killian) turned away to record the audience erupt into a tremendous uproar.

This is one of gaming’s finest moments where the players and the crowd are connected and engrossed.

Even for those people who do not play games, and have no idea what Street Fighter is, this moment can be appreciated and compared to any triumphant sports comeback.

Here is solid proof that games can and should be a viable spectator sport.

CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL MATCH

It is only a matter of time before I beat these two weak-ass players and rule the Street Fighter game universe when SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV comes out!!!

The ‘I Play W.O.W” music video we released received over 500,000 views in just over a week!

That of course is awesome and we hope more people see it – however while witnessing the growth of this musical genre, it occurred to us that we should pay some respect and give a nod to one of the people who helped start the movement of music within the gamer/internet lifestyle…

MC FRONTALOT!!!

He just released his new album today and you can go to his website and check it out here:

In the meanwhile, check out this awesome music video he made:

Maybe I should collaborate on a song with him???
