At 12AM Eastern Lastnight, Lulzsec took to twitter to announce Operation Anti-Security, (or #AntiSec), after making earlier comments on the nature of celebrity and tax funding. They’re teaming up with Anonymous to target Government agencies, banks, big corporations, and “whitehat security terrorists.” They’ve stated their top goal is to “steal and leak any classified government information, including email spools and documentation.”
Lulzsec also has continued an open-source trend that began with their open requests for target suggestions last week, and have full-on invited their followers to join in on the attack. So this time, on top of weathering the efforts of a group of skilled hackers, government agencies could find themselves combating other unknown forces as well.
The group’s been busy in the last week, but their continued unpredictable nature makes their actions hard to track. They went straight from trolling gamers with the takedowns of the Escapist, Minecraft, and League of Legends last week to offering their support to Sega in hunting down whoever hacked their networks, expressing a love for the long-gone Dreamcast.
Also of note is their sudden allegiance with fellow headless hacking group Anonymous—a group that they mildly disparaged last week and claimed seperation from. (Though to be fair, that was fairly evidently only for “teh lulz.”)
As of this writing, no targets from #AntiSec have been announced yet, save the Serious Organised Crime Agency in the UK. Keep your eyes out though for any serious hackings, and remember, protect your usernames and passwords as best you can. For extra tips on secure passwords, check out this great article from Lifehacker, and feel free to share any of your own hacking experiences in the comments!

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
