Anyone familiar with two of the most popular iOS games– Angry Birds and Cut the Rope– will immediately see the inspiration behind this blatant knock off title currently claiming top spot among free apps in the App Store.
The gameplay of ‘Cut the Birds’ is actually more of a mixup between Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja, although Rovio has the most to be upset about as the main characters of the game are pretty much Angry Bird clones.
There is no shortage of games that rip-off the most popular iOS title’s mechanics and naming schemes. There has also been a ton of games accused of plagiarism and, most of the time, promptly removed from the App Store by Apple. However, the fact that Cut the Birds, a game that doesn’t even try to be subtle about its plagiarism, even made it into the store might mean Apple needs to make further revisions to its App Store review policy.

They certainly haven’t had a hard time keeping out emulators and other apps that provide access to illegally distributed content– something Android is still having issues with.
As of right now the game is still available for free in the App Store, you can download it here while you can. GigaOM first turned us on to the app, and they note users aren’t too happy about the shameless plagiarism, as you can see from the reviews below:

We’re not sure that a game like this would have made any money if developers SolverLads were charing for it, although there’s always a possibility a user who didn’t know any better could have mistaken it for Angry Birds. Judging by the image used at the top of this article, which is the app icon used on iTunes and in the App Store, the devs were clearly counting on users seeing the image and hitting download without thinking twice– an obvious attempt to deceive users.

That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
