After the initial reveal and a few short interviews here and there, Naughty Dog has been pretty quiet about The Last Of Us. The studio’s first PS3 title outside of the Uncharted series is a survival game set in a post apocalyptic world. Months ago now we were all introduced to the game’s main protagonists, Joel and Ellie, but we haven’t heard much since.
Today we get a look at some new footage from the game courtesy of a new cut scene (via IGN), as well as a more in depth interview with the dev team on some of the changes the game has undergone since we last saw it.
One of the main changes you can see from the new footage is the Ellie character model has changed. The dev team at Naughty Dog decided to alter the character model for Ellie to better reflect the voice actor Ashley Johnson’s personality, and also to “resemble a slightly younger teen more fitting to the story.”
From the new cinematic we can see Joel driving down interstate 579, whichleads us to believe the game will at least partly take place in Pittsburgh. We can also see what looks like the Fort Pitt Bridge in the background, so we know at the very least the characters are passing through Pittsburgh in the cutscene.
“It’s a game about the human condition. 20 years after a plague has decimated our society, how does man survive? When all moral and ethical codes have been stripped, who do you trust?”
Some other interesting points about the newly released footage are that we don’t see the same mutated enemies present in the debut trailer for the game. This time we see what appear to be other human hostiles most likely just trying to survive themselves. These humans like many observed in the initial trailer aren’t armed to the teeth, they appear to have only one fire arm amongst the group, where the others use DIY weapons and traps.
Naughty Dog says this is just a teaser on the run up to E3 and, although they are being quiet about what of The Last Of US will be at the show, it will be there:
“Our team has been working hard to have something ready at E3 that will please our fans. We’d love to say more, but we don’t want to spoil anything, ” said Bruce Straley, the game’s director.

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
