Many of us cant wait to get our hands on the new Tomb Raider reboot expected to release March 2013 after quite a strong showing at this year’s E3. According to the Guardian, Camilla Luddington has been confirmed as the actor who will play Lara in the upcoming title.
Luddington is a 29 year old English actor who seemingly fits the new and young “Lara” we caught a glimpses of from the game. She joins the ranks of actors who played Lara in the past including Angelina Jolie and Minnie Driver.
Camilla is most recently known for her work in the made for TV film William and Kate, where she played the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. She has also starred on the show Californication with David Duchovny (here’s a link to the nude scene that may or may not work), as well as being set to appear in the upcoming fifth season of HBO’s True Blood.
After an international search for the actor who would play the feisty protagonist, the game’s developers, Crystal Dynamics, said Luddington fit the bill perfectly. She is not only voicing Lara in the new game, but also acting in the motion capture sessions for her as well. This marks the first time in the series the female actor voicing Lara will also lend her physical appearance to the character.
Crystal Dynamics said that Luddington convinced them she could deliver the emotion the character demanded as well the sense of youth the reboot calls for. Darrell Gallagher, studio head at Crystal Dynamics had this to say:
“This has been one of the most important jobs for us to get right,” continuing with,”This Tomb Raider game is very different to any other and we are demanding far more from the voice acting than ever before.”
The game is expected ship March 2013 and, as we’ve seen before, it will depict a much darker and grittier version of the Tomb Raider lore.

That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
