Upon seeing this morning that some fellow Robotech fans had constructed a fan film paying tribute to Macross, I felt what I can only describe as the vague sensation of being at half-mast. It’s something I know will one day become a fully-raised flagpole of joy — that weekend when the anime Robotech is an actual feature-length, live-action film, shot entirely in IMAX and backed by a studio that’s guaranteed to keep the franchise afloat for the inevitable sequels which cover all 3 Robotech Wars up to the Invid invasion.
Until then, there’s Valkyrie Project, part of an ongoing series of fan movies made by Argentina-based Creavision Films. It doesn’t just kick ass; it totally stomps it out, along with a good section of freeway and a couple of unsuspecting Argentinian builderers. I’m not entirely sure why they would be included in a Robotech short, but as long as it ends with them getting handily stepped on by a Zentraedi Battle Pod, all is right with the world (yes, this includes the cameraman). The special effects and animation are all amazing, especially considering this project wasn’t backed up by any major movie studio: no alterations made to the battle pod outside of some minor cosmetic stuff, instead of completely changing the look of the robots completely, and pretty realistic urban destruction.
Anyways, it looks every bit as realistic as that freeway scene in Transformers 1. Pretty awesome stuff here from these guys — can’t wait for more. In other words, it should make waiting for the movie a bit easier.

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
