A new “Game Genie” for PS3 is hitting the market today from the video game peripheral company Hyperkin. The device allows users to mod or cheat PS3 games for the usual reasons like XP, in-game currency and ammo etc.
The “Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3″ will allow players to transfer save files from their PS3 over to a PC (via USB) where they can then be edited to various degrees. The software also provides a pre-stored database for various preset enhancements the user can apply. In case you were wondering, the site does clarify that the Game Genie “is an easy-to-use program that does not require jailbreaking or modding your PS3″
The Game Genie “links the user to a continually updated database of available games and enhancements.” Hyperkin is saying that the database of mods will be continually updated, so it will be interesting to see how many titles do indeed get supported. Right now we know from the press release that “popular games” like Uncharted 3, Batman: Arkham City, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, will all have certain modifications at launch.
“The Game Genie Save Editor allows for even the most novice gamers to breeze past the hard or boring parts of games, leveling the playing field for a more enjoyable experience.” Steven Mar, Hyperkin’s Executive Director

The Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3 main features:
- Ability to load, upload and back up Save Data.
- Automatic profile reassignment
- Ability to trade game save files with other players
- Secure access to comprehensive, continuously updated cheat database
According to Joystiq, who spoke with a Hyperkin rep during E3, none of the enhancements will be available in multiplayer and the service would be regularly moderated to ensure they weren’t. The Game Genie will be of no use for online players, for the obvious reasons, but for single player campaigns only.

Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
