Last week Gameloft teased us with the second trailer, seen below, for the official movie-tie-in game, The Dark Knight Rises for iOS. The game is now available in the New Zealand App Store for $9.99 and is expected to appear in the U.S App Store very soon for $6.99 (via 9to5mac).
The title, inspired by the film of the same name, will be the epic conclusion to the Christopher Nolan trilogy of Batman films and will be available as a universal app for iPhone and iPad.
The game’s story follows Bruce Wayne on his return to Gotham City as Batman after an 8 year hiatus.
Waiting for him is the mysterious Selena Kyle and Batman’s long time adversary, Bane. The game will be spread across an open world version of Gotham through “dozens” of missions and quests forcing Batman to handle, “hostage situations, bomb squads, jailbreaks and car chases.”
Players will be controlling Batman and his large arsenal of gadgets and weapons as well as a thrilling, cinematic combat system. Collectibles will also allow players to unlock upgrades and new fighting skills while traversing Gotham with the grapnel.
“When kicks and gadgets are of no use, The Dark Knight relies on his vehicles to get the job done.” Players will get the chance to fly The Bat for faster travel across the city as well as the Bat Pod for special missions.
In other Batman news, the popular mobile game Batman Arkham City Lockdown iOS game from Warner Bros. is currently on sale for only $1, that’s down from its usual $5.99. The title also received a major update to support the new iPad’s retina display recently.

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
