The words ‘mashup’ and ‘Germany’ are ordinarily the last two words merged together that would make me want to listen to music, as it invariably brings to mind the likes of Sprockets/Taco/Autobahn, stuff like that. Mashup Germany, however, is really about merging mostly American songs by bands of varying popularity (Aerosmith and Marcy Playground?), and doing it his own unique way — with a little help from the very talented DJ Schmolli.
The end result is the opposite of what I expected: something both undeniably infectious and catchy as hell.
It helps that MG’s chameleon-like voice aptly captures the croon of Sinatra, makes the aforementioned Marcy’s Playground even better, and that the guy is sensible enough to bring in a perfectly capable chick to help cover The Cranberries’ ‘Linger.’
F*ck I’m old…and sure enough, we do get the requisite German pop when he covers Rudi Perrell’s “Wann wird’s mal wieder richtig Sommer” (When It’s Summer Again).
Included among the rest: REM’s “Everybody Hurts”, Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, Mumford and Sons’ “Awake My Soul” and Simple Plan’s “Summer Paradise.” Think I need to go back for a Rock 101 History lesson, if only because I didn’t notice those last few in the mix. You can download and check out plenty more Mashup Germany stuff here.

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
