It’s been a while since we reported on anything Marvel-to-anime, and once again Wolverine is pwning all the headlines. While you probably either love or hate the Japanimation-ification of what many consider Marvel’s most prized hero, the DVD release of the relatively celebrated/somewhat controversial adaptation officially drops next week — around the same time the live-action movie starts shooting.
Courtesy of ScienceFiction.com there’s a few clips that have already been released in anticipation of its release.
Here’s a trailer for the DVD, which features the prettiest Wolverine you’ll ever see, and some spectacular animation to go with it. To get a glimpse at the other clip, along with a soundbite of revered comics veteran Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan) talking about exactly what’s going on, as well as what exactly is Logan’s driving force in this series, go here. Here’s a quote from Ellis himself to tide you over (or if you’re too lazy to click on the link):
“He’s constantly at war with the animal side of himself. He’s on that constant search for that one thing that will stop him feeling angry all the time.”
Got that? If you’re fading already it may help to know that Hugh Jackman and The Wolverine start filming in Canada in the next couple weeks as pre-production is already done (So I guess they’re not filming in Japan, after all?). I caught director James Mangold’s CopLand on Netflix the other day and had forgotten how good it was. And Walk the Line was pretty damn sweet, even if Joaquin Phoenix looked nothing like Johnny Cash. Here’s hoping the sequel to the otherwise forgettable Origins movie will be nothing short of awesome.

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
