Film Director Scott Waugh has two major game movies on the way, Need for Speed and Hawken.
According to IGN Waugh has recently revealed some interesting ideas for the film adaption of Hawken to the Hollywood Reporter including the possibility of using Unreal Engine 3 in creating the film.
Waugh told the Hollywood Reporter about his plans to “cross-pollinate” the look and feel of the game into the film,
“One of the things I’ve been talking to the game developers about that I think is going to be so unique to this movie is that I really want to use the (Unreal Engine 3) game engine in the movie.”
The director of Act of Valor fame goes on to say, “I want the film to feel exactly like the game…For me, I’m pretty excited about that, because that world we’re creating in Hawken is going to be exactly like the game.”
Scott waugh goes on to express his feelings on the future of gaming and film being heavily integrated moving forward. IP’s like Assassin’s Creed, Halo, and now Hawken among others are all stepping into the realm of film.
“Now it’s not, ‘Here’s the movie. Here’s the game,’” said Waugh. “It’s almost become one. That’s the experience we want to create in the film, for people to really feel like, ‘Holy smokes!’ …you’re in the game.”

Hawken publisher Meteor Entertainment and game developer Adhesive Games have a string of media content coming our way based on the Hawken IP including the movie, the game, comics as well as a live-action web series (video below).
As mentioned above Waugh will take the helm for the upcoming Need for Speed film. He said the film will be a “mesh” of all the games in the franchise, yet went on to tease fans of the series by saying that the film will be focused on a specific title. Unfortunately, which title he is referring to is still unknown.
When the Hollywood Reporter asked Waugh, “What was it that attracted you to the Need for Speed game franchise?” Waugh responded, “I personally have always wanted to do a car racing movie”. He goes on to say, “I’m a motocross racer, myself. We still quote Bullitt and French Connection. Those movies were made in the ’70s. We should be able to outdo that nowadays, and I just feel like, ‘I want to be the guy that makes the next authentic racing film,’ and that’s my goal.”

That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
