In its most recent marketing campaign, Mountain Dew asked fans of the soft drink to vote on what would work coolest as a name for their new green apple flavor.
And at DubtheDew.com, where the contest was being held, tons of fans (many of them bronies, or adult males) of the popular new show, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, showed up to cast their votes and name it after their favorite pony.
Little did they know the brony-hating trolls were lying dormant and waiting to destroy whatever good-natured efforts the bronies might have made.
Encouraged to get involved via Equestria Daily, a brony blog, most believed that a
green version of Applejack, one of the ponies on the show, would be a suitably kick-ass brand name. Applejack came pretty damn close, apparently, even getting to second place in the competition.
That is, until the aformentioned brony-haters heard about the debate and made it their mission to sabotage the mission on 4chan. This was apparently done, according to buzzfeed, by submitting a load of obscene names as candidates — and thus the Dew was forced to shut the voting site down. Below you can see some of the more creative names those bastards at 4chan came up with and which, in turn, forced the peeps at Mountain Dew to shut it down.
So: are these people evil wicked trolls who might be closet homophobes, doing their best to make the seemingly good-natured Bronies miserable? Or maybe secret agents of sorts, hired by Dew themselves to subvert the bronies’ attempts? The conspiracy theories boggle the mind…
Interestingly enough, Howard Stern recently heard about the Bronyhood fad and weighed in on his Sirius show. Look how much hate he got (indicated through number of dislikes).

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
