Every time I hear the name ‘Steffan Moffat‘, I can’t help but picture hundreds of playground beatings, with some poor Scottish lad wearing a cravat and dickey on the receiving end of it all…but that’s just me.
Regardless of whatever verbal/physical abuse Steffan might have endured growing up, he’s gone on to create one of the most beloved shows in all of modern nerd-dom, Sherlock (in addition to writing on Doctor Who). And now that it’s getting an official manga adaptation, he’ll be able to get laid that much more often, in addition to expanding the fanbase tremendously of course.
Anime News Network reports that the very first issue will be based on the episode “A Study in Pink,” which was scripted by Doctor Who mainstays Moffat and Mark Gatiss. It’s being drawn by the pseudo-anonymous manga artist known as “Jay.” Unfortunately there’s no talk of whether/when there will ever be an English adaptation; by all accounts this release will be strictly for the Japanese-speaking crowd.
ANN also dutifully informs us that, oddly enough, this is not the first time Arthur Conan Doyle’s series of books have been converted to anime and manga. Hayao Miyazaki actually directed an anime film called Sherlock Hound, which converted the beloved British detective into a dog.
Meanwhile, the manga versions of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (Sherlock and Watson) seem relatively accurate. In the meantime, if the publishers want to make some easy and serious bank, they will spirit us a translated version asap. Beats importing this mofo for some exorbitant price and trying to match it up with the scenes on reruns DVD. Which I’m sure some fans will do regardless, but still…

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
