Seven more days in the chronicles of gaming history have passed us by. Like sands through an hourglass, um, here is stuff about it.
This Little Piggie Went To The App Store
Rovio announced this week that those green swine we spent so many years smashing to death with Angry Birds will star in a spin-off game called Bad Piggies, set to launch later this month.
Companies that make pillows, blankets, school folders, board games, iPhone covers, t-shirts, underwear, plush animals, beach balls, Target sales goals, toothpaste, hair restoration cream, personal lubricant and walk in bathtubs are reported to be thrilled at the possible new product lines.
Gamers shrugged and returned to posting anti-Call of Duty rants.
Glenn Beck joins the Mickey Mouse Brigade
Right-wind talk show host Glenn Beck, who once called a video game fan a basement dwelling loser on the air while cackling like a ticklish hyenda, ran into problems at the GameStop Developers Conference when he attempted to gain a pair of Mickey Mouse ears of his very own.
The cheese hit the fan when famed game developer Warren Spector told Beck’s assistant that he couldn’t have the ears and snatched them off the assistant’s head. Security then asked Beck’s Disney caddy “Brad” to leave, but he reportedly got to leave with a pair of the ears anyway.
Personally, I always thought Beck was more like Goofy myself…. and I’m not sure how he can wear Mickey Mouse ears when his head is usually shoved up his own Clubhouse (at least when he talks about video games).
Farmville 2 Launched
Yes, Facebook fans… Farmville 2 has launched, causing record “Block Invite” clicks to the social networking site.
No, I don’t want to harvest your onions or whatever. That question is even creepier than “poking”…
Kirby & Nintendo Fans Set World Record
The pink marshmallow thing known as Kirby has turned 20, and to celebrate this milestone a new world record was set as 536 people in special Kirby shirts got together to set a new “Most People Blowing Chewing Gum Bubbles at Once” world record.
I almost hesitate to bring this up, as a longtime fan of the Nintendo brand and all, but I also believe this set a world record for “Most People Wearing T-Shirts That Don’t Look Appropriate For a Rated E Game” or something similar. The press photos released for the event show the participants are wearing pink Kirby t-shirts with his face emblazoned on them.
These shirts might have looked cute on a hanger, but between the color and the awkward placement for Kirby’s “cheek blushes” the event photos look like the bubble gum blowers are all topless and possibly somewhat cold.
Perhaps this was planned as a teaser for the wild orgy Kirby is planning for his big 21st birthday next year.
Check back each Monday to see what historic milestones we are celebrating in video game history this week and each Thursday to see my take on what made history this week.
Patrick Scott Patterson – who has written 91 posts on The Jace Hall Show.
Patrick Scott Patterson is a Video game personality & historian who has been gaming since 1981. He contributes two weekly columns for The Jace Hall Show: "This Week In Video Game History" and "This Week in Gaming News".

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
