We have some brand new footage of next year’s Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance from the Tokyo Game Show. Kojima Productions and Platinum Games have brought us both a new trailer and now we have 15 minutes of gameplay right from the show floor (below via GT).
Revengeance will be the first action oriented title in the Metal Gear franchise, promising to bring the action we see in the cutscenes with Raiden in MGS 4 in to gameplay. We get a chance to see some new characters and presumably bosses including Monsoon (below) and Mistral.
The footage features the dog like robot with the chainsaw tail (called LQ-84i seen on the right) from previous screenshots. Raiden goes into battle with the agile robot in this footage but in previous trailers Platinum may have hinted at it becoming a sort of companion of Raiden’s (possibly later in the game’s plot).
We get a good taste of the basic grunt style enemies as well as more of the Gekko style mechs from MGS 4. The three legged, almost clumsy, enemies also make a return from Guns of the Patriots, only this time it appears as though Raiden will be able to control or pilot them remotely as well as having to fight them.
Another interesting point is that we do indeed see the classic Metal Gear alert system in place, although in this particular walkthrough the player completely ignores it. It will be interesting to see why the alert system is there and if in anyway the game can be played stealthy.
Revengeance has recently been announced as a PS3 exclusive in Japan. Even though the game was initially slated to release on the Microsoft console, Konami has officially announced, without any specific reason, that Japanese gamers would have to experience MGR on their PS3′s.
Although understandable due to the poor sales numbers for the 360 in Japan, with Konami deciding to cancel the release of such a major Japanese title the Xbox 360 certainly isn’t getting any help. Just to put it in perspective, MGS HD Collection hit the Japanese sales charts in fifth last November on the PS3, wheres as the Xbox 360 version didn’t even see the top 20.
Also recently announced is that MGR: Revengeance will be both a retail product and available via PSN as a downloadable game in Japan.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance hits stores February 21 2013.

Craig Hunter is a main contributor for the Jace Hall Show and has been an avid gamer for over 15 years. He also freelances for a number of websites and magazines covering mobile products and emerging technologies.

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
