First they release the device. Then they forget the games. Then they drop the PRICE of the device. Then they claim that a possible “bug” is a feature. Then they change the entire device and possibly shuffle out that whole 3D gimmick thing in the process. Smoooth Nintendo.
A site that accurately reported on the existence on the PS Vita and the Wii U before their announcements has a new rumor that Nintendo has a new form of the 3DS undergoing R&D–specifically one that would have a second analog stick and could see a reduced emphasis on the 3D feature. Which would naturally also warrant a new name. (The Nintendo DS3?)
Nintendo naturally hasn’t confirmed these reports, but it should be noted that their track record of price drops tends to lead to new console releases: Original DS units, the Wii, the Gamecube–all saw price drops before a new model was announced.
So would you buy a brand new, shinier, possibly better 3DS? Personally, I just found my old Nintendo DS in a drawer a few weeks ago, and went “holy crap, how did I ever play on a screen this small?!”
