Political movements are a dime a dozen these days, with political primaries hitting their stride and dousing us with TV advertisments that would even make most cell phone companies wonder “where does the money came from?”
But here’s a commercial that gets it; a video that doesn’t shove a message down our throats but conceptualizes a problem in a way where we can all understand it…using something that’s become something of a lost art: humor.
The commercial was financed by Ecotricity, a movement to get the UK off of the “big 6″; suppliers providing nuclear power.
But the problem of dealing with aging energy sources, leading to “unethical pricing, complex tariffs, awful customer service and the dire lack of investment in new sources of green energy” is not limited to the UK.
The U.S. is dealing with gasoline prices that are $3.48 per gallon, up 35 cents from this time last year. Clearly coming up with new energy sources is an important issue if people want this number to go down.
But despite which side of the issue you are on (i.e. if you happen to work in the industry of non-renewable resources) the video does an excellent job of engaging viewers, not turning anyone off simply because of its “Green Message.”
We for one would like to see more videos that take a humorous approach towards serious issues; doing so won’t invalidate the message, it only makes it more palatable and accessible to more individuals.
