UK-based Captive Media might have just launched the world’s first urine-controlled video game with their custom urinal-integrated consoles now installed in the Exhibit Bar in Balham, South London.
The games are far from your average console experience, but according to Metro the bar owner has experienced a 47 percent increase in beer sales, while Captive Media hopes to cash in on targeted ads.
We’ll spare you the Nintendo Wii jokes…here’s how it works:
As you can see from the image above and the video below, the company installs a small display (approximately 10 inches) above the urinal as well as targets within. The onscreen character is controlled by aiming your urine at the targets within the urinal, which uses infra-red sensors to relay the commands. In other words…you pee right, you turn right. Check it out:
Some of the games you can expect to play during the minute long experience include the “Fireman game” where you put out fires (use your imagination), the “On the Piste” skiing game seen in the video above, and “Clever Dick”, a puzzle and quiz game.
Users can share their high scores via Twitter and also track and submit high scores on the company’s website. Gordon MacSween, the company’s cofounder, had this to say to Metro:
“We already had a huge amount of interest in the units from bars, pubs, exhibition centres and retail outlets across the country and overseas – even though we’ve been trying to keep a lid on it…This product offers customers something fun, and unlike anything they’ve seen before. Those are two good reasons to go out for a drink at a time when so many are opting to stay in.”
Of course Sega actually beat Captive Media to it last year (see below), but we’re not sure if Sega has big plans to make pee-controlled games a focus:
