If the headline of ninjas unboxing a Galaxy Nexus took you by surprise, you’re probably not familiar with the original ninja unboxing videos that accompanied the release of the first two Google Nexus devices.
The first two videos (here and here) used some creative stop motion and animation techniques, but the new ninja unboxing video for the Galaxy Nexus is a full-fledged 8-bit arcade game available on YouTube.
The project, called “Clash Of The Nexus Ninjas” was put together by Canadian filmmaker Patrick Boivin (known for his stop motion films), and a number of developers and artists including Berzerk Studio, Monsieur Monsieur Boivin, Technologies Lab3.ca, and Broniac.
Not only will visiting www.youtube.com/ninjaunboxing transform YouTube into an old school beat em up, but a longer version of the game is also being made available for free on the Android Market.
In other Galaxy Nexus news, following the U.S. release of what is now probably the most coveted Android device on the market, there have been a few early hiccups for the launch. First of all, Verizon has already confirmed they are looking into signal strength issues and claim to be working on a software update.
We also already knew Galaxy Nexus users on Verizon wouldn’t have access to Google Wallet, despite having an embedded NFC chip. Thankfully, there is now an easy workaround to install the app without having to root your device. Head over to the XDA forums to learn all about it.
