In news that definitely qualifies for a #hellyeah on Twitter, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated in an interview with Forbes today that we can expect to see “Future Duke IP” coming from this company. He went on to stress their desire to bring their intellectual property and bring it to another medium in “an extraordinary high quality way, that delights consumers and represents an interesting commercial opportunity for us, we will.”
So to break that down to Dummy speak, “we didn’t just get the rights to Duke Nukem for one game.” (Interestingly though, Zelnick dodged a question about whether or not Take-Two actually owns the rights to the Duke.
It’s actually a surprisingly savvy move. Release a long-awaited, massively hyped game for the press; not necessarily to revive the game but to revive the character. And whatever you think about the game, there’s no doubt they’ve certainly done just that.
