Disclaimer: The following is a rendition of “The Night Before Christmas” which pays tribute to Meta Knight, that mecha-esque character from the Kirby universe and is here portrayed by a fully grown and somewhat scary-looking guy who’s far too big to be a puffball.
Disclaimer #2: You don’t need to be a Meta Knight fan — and it doesn’t need to be Christmas — for you to enjoy watching it. (Yes, it’s about two months too late — but as the posters themselves note, it’s probably not a good idea to bring it up).
Thus, through a clever mix of animation, After Effects, and live action, production company Random Encounters Entertainment has created something which could go down as the best holiday video game song ever (possibly the only one, but just the same).
It’s something the gang has clearly dedicated themselves to: a mix of Monty Python and irreverent pop culture/video game/ humor and music.
Costume-wise, they clearly spared no expense outside the tinfoil/glue/construction paper MK mask — but that’s part of its endearing charm.
You can see the video below, but there’s plenty of reasons to go to their YouTube channel here as well, if only because the creators promise many more Meta Knight-related goodies, should it get enough views. Perhaps the best tribute to Kirby ever — though such a compliment hardly does them justice.
