Proof yet again that billionaire’s have more money than they officially know what to do with, Hamad bin Hamdan al Nahyan, a Sheikh and member of Abu Dhabi’s ruling family, had his name carved into the surface of an island he owns in the Persian Gulf.
This wasn’t the kind of thing that a 5 year old does in the afternoon, with a lotta heart and a little shovel. The letters are a half a mile tall and 2 miles long, so large that they can be seen from outer space.

Normal circumstances would have caused the waters of the island, which Hamad owns (the island not the water), to wash the letters away, but in this case they were entrenched as waterways to prevent just that.
It’s not known how much the operation, but given Hamad’s (no relation) rather loose spending habits, most scientists and vegas bookie’s estimate that expenditures in the “whole lot” to “are-you-out-of-your-freaking-mind” range.

Also of note, besides having his name carved into an island, Hamad owns 200 cars, including seven Mercedes 500 SELs painted in different colours of the rainbow, which he stores in a giant pyramid–just in case he needs to take 7 cars out at the same time or to alleviate any doubt whatsoever that he may not be the world’s most narcissistic man.
Say if you had all the money in the world…would you want your name in the sand or would you be satisfied with just 200 cars and your own private pyramid?
