If you take only 2 things away from this post, just know that A) this could be the coolest promotion in the history of television show promotions and that B) All the Hollywood advertising firms should step it up a notch, because the brains behind season 2 of The Walking Dead are showing the brains lacking in their competitors (maybe they got eaten).
Btu we digress…in a movie theater in South Africa, a slew of unsuspecting folks sat down for the usual zillion coming attractions — including a typically tacky-looking rom-com about a couple that falls in love. Cue random zombie, straggling into the theater, complete with growling and grumbling noises. Just what a movie like this could use.
Suffice it to say, you don’t need professional-quality undead to scare the crap out of unsuspecting audience members. But according to The Escapist, the marketing guys behind this thing did just that — applying some show-worthy makeup and sfx to the guy playing it. As for the rest, well, it would be cruel to ruin it — you’re better off just watching the trailer below. With the work that went into this thing, it’s no wonder The Walking Dead is doing so well — although the writing, the direction and the fact that it’s got Frank Darabont behind it all can’t hurt either.
