Hyperkin dropped its SNES handheld console last year to get us in the mood for portable remakes of retro consoles, and now SNK Playmore is getting to drop a new Neo Geo handheld preloaded with 20 classic games on its 2GB of onboard storage.
The device has a 4.3-inch display, SD card slot, original stick from the NEO Geo console pad, four game buttons, and two shoulder buttons. Japanese language blog Famicom-Plaza got its hands on the device (via andriasang) and also provided a list of twenty classic titles (below) that will come with the console including a couple notables: Metal Slug, King of Fighters ’94. and Fatal Fury.
The new device, known simply as the “Neo Geo Portable Device” as of yet, would be the first Neo Geo console since the Neo Geo Pocket Color launched in 1999 and discontinued in 2001.
Unfortunately SNK hasn’t official confirmed a launch date or pricing, but its competition might be the SNES SupaBoy portable already available for $79.99. You’ll be pleased to know the titles are all apparently the English language, North American versions, which would indicate a release in the US. Head past the break for the full list of launch titles and more screenshots.
