The video above shows a PlayStation controller being used to play Wii thanks to modder Bruno Freitas and his latest Wii RetroPad Adapter hack.
The adapter is apparently quite simple to construct yourself and Bruno has made everything necessary available here. No Game Cube extension cables here, the Wii RetroPad adapter allows your controller of choice to talk to the Wiimote, which in return talks to the Wii wirelessly. Freitas explains:
“Wii RetroPad Adapter is a Wiimote adapter based on a small PCB, an ATMega uC and a couple of connectors that allow you to use the following classic joysticks as if they were a Wii Classic Controller”
Controllers currently supported by the project include the Sega Genesis pad, NES, SNES, PS2 Dualshock (with restrictions), Sega Master System, and Atari 2600. There’s a snapshot of the schematic here if you’re feeling adventurous.
