Who should play Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic? Ryan Gosling might get our vote, but George Clooney isn’t having any of it.
We already knew Sony Pictures was in talks to land the film rights to Walter Isaacson’s ‘Steve Jobs’ biography, and at that time Noah Wyle, who played Jobs in The Pirates of Silicon Valley movie, was rumored as the frontrunner for the lead once again. When Fortune asked Noah if he’d be interested in reprising his role as Jobs, he said, “Are you kidding?…There are certain roles you wish you could tackle over and over again. That’s one for me.”
Well, whether he likes it or not, Wyle might have a bit of competition, as George Clooney is reportedly in the the running for the lead as well…
According to UK Now Magazine, Clooney and Wyle are currently “battling it out” for the lead in the Steve Jobs biopic expected to start filming next year.
We can only assume this is the same film based on Walter Isaacson’s ‘Steve Jobs’ bio that Sony was rumored to have acquired rights to. The better question is who will make for a better Steve Jobs, George or Noah?
Well, we all know Wyle has the experience from Pirates of Silicon Valley, if you aren’t familiar…familiarize yourself with the clip below, or watch the whole thing on YouTube before SOPA takes away your freedom:
We’re not sure Clooney looks much like Jobs, but there’s obviously no need to run down his acting credentials. Either way, there’s always the possibility those two aren’t the only ones being considered. After looking at some of the suggestions online and side by side shots of Jobs with potential actors, we have to say Ryan Gosling could be a real possibility. See for yourself:
If we’re basing it on purely looks, MSN’s PowerWall offers up a few suggestions including Michael Cera, Ashton Kutcher, Christian Bale, James Cromwell, and even the unlikely Andy Samberg. We’ve even heard rumors of Tom Hanks and Edward Norton as possibilities.
Check out a few side-by-sides below and let us know in the comments who you think should play Steve Jobs.
