You may have been disappointed when the original November 2011 launch date came and went for Microsoft’s limited edition Star Wars Xbox 360/Kinect bundle, but you’ll be pleased to know a new date has officially been set.
The bundle will officially be launching alongside the Kinect Star Wars game on April 3rd, and it’s already available for pre-order on Amazon for $450. If you’re unfamiliar with the bundle, you can expect an R2-D2 themed console (320GB) with a gold C-3PO wireless Xbox controller, bundled with the first ever white version of Kinect.
It will also feature custom startup and tray sounds, a blue power LED, and a black Xbox 360 wired headset.
Pocket-lint already went hands-on (video below) and noted, inscribed in the disc tray is, “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.” Thankfully, they also snapped photos from just about every angle, a few of which are below.
Microsoft (via Major Nelson) also announced some new features of the Kinect Star Wars game, which you can grab on Apr. 3rd for $39.99 if you aren’t lucky enough to get the bundle. As part of a “Jedi Destiny Mode”, the game will include Space battles, Speeder Bikes and Landspeeders, New Duels with opponents like Darth Vader and Count Dooku, and a new Galactic Dance Off mode. For those who do get the bundle, you’ll get a bonus C-3PO unlockable for the Dance Mode.
If you’re still trying to make your mind up about whether or not to drop $450 on the bundle, check out the hands-on video and gallery after the break:
