If you’ve ever drinken too much Red Bull and/or a generic energy drink to the point where you’ve lost all coherent understanding of the real world, the new Perfect Strangers “video game” dubbed “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Me Now” might bear a familiar resemblance. For those of you who were around in the 80′s or at least were walking on all fours, you’ll remember that Perfect Strangers was one of the most popular sitcoms on television stretching over 150 episodes for 8 seasons.
But the magic is reborn in this video game which basically has you run through a series of tunnels, capturing stars along the way and asking you “how close can you get to your dream,” using the show’s epic theme song “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Me Now” as a backdrop. Keep Reading

Treyarch’s highly anticipated sequel to Call of Duty Black Ops will be set in the near future and will introduce a whole score of new weapons and artillery options. The year 2025 will see the introduction of things like flying drones, walking tanks and what is being referred to as never-before-seen methods to mow down your enemies on the battlefield.
From the trailer we get a strong sense of what we have all come to know and love about the franchise and much more. The trailer takes place in a futuristic Los Angeles in what appears to be a battle Keep Reading
In the grand spirit of binding contracts and monthly surcharges, Microsft appears to be making a bold move to making sure every living room with a couch has an Xbox 360 in it. Like amazon’s push to sell kindles like hot cakes in an effort to monopolize the book industry and make themselves the sole distribution channel for book purchases, Microsoft is reportedly dropping the price of the Xbox 360 (yes the 4gb version) with Kinect sensor for $99.
Of course the kicker is that you HAVE to purchase a 2 year subscription to XBL Gold, which is $15/month, with early termination fees if you decide to pull out of the contract. Keep Reading

Given the massive amount of live-action Portal fan films that have emerged over the course of the past year or so, maybe we should have known it was only a matter of time before we got a cartoon based on the franchise, too.
Kinda nice that somebody’s decided to put together their own animated Portal, even if it is only a short. Though it has yet to be aired, Companionship‘s character designs alone look incredible (as sparse as they are).
And look out, Bandai: seems this was actually the work of one man Keep Reading

The somewhat inexplicable desire to bring the world of all things Angry Birds to a theme park setting began with China, albeit in a somewhat limiting setting encumbered by immobile bricks and an iffy slingshot.
Now, onto Finland, the proverbial home of the world’s highest suicide rate and where they could surely use a few good laughs.
According to Geekosystem, mobile gaming company Rovio will supervise the construction of the theme park, which is opening inside another theme park altogether: Finland’s Särkänniemi Adventure Park. Keep Reading

Go figure — when there’s a 200 million dollar sci-fi property no one’s ever heard of (John Carter), outside the usual billboards here and there, you never hear a word about it. But when there’s a movie that needs almost no promotion, Disney will do anything short of sell their firstborn to get the word out (anyone not know who Joss Whedon/Thor/Iron Man are?).
Thus in addition to opening The Avengers overseas and around the world early, before it’s even released in North America (and reaping a nifty weekend profit of $175 million), Disney’s pushing full steam ahead with yet another marketing strategy.
This time, they’ve launched a video-making tool that allows Keep Reading
The new urine powered video game, dubbed the “Toylet” by Sega, is now officially on the market. For a shade under 2 grand you can put the toylet in your bar, basement or home and play a myriad of video games (many of which we’d be hard pressed to make up).
Most notably, the video games allow you to: blow up a girl’s skirt, squirt milk out of your nose and fill a coffee can (not with coffee). To answer your question, the games last no longer than a minute (unless you’re this guy).
Despite the heavy price tag and the clientele a urinal that Keep Reading

This morning the official UK Call of Duty: Black Ops II website confirmed the new title’s release date and laid out some further details on the highly anticipated shooter. The site described the new COD game as a shooter being set in a futuristic Cold War battle of sorts. COD Black Ops II will be released on November 13, 2012 and is now available to pre-order on the UK site with many more pre-order locations to be popping up over the next few days.
A new trailer is present but only teased, without allowing the user to actually view it just yet. The trailer link leads to a “dead” thumbnail which appears to be a placeholder for the upcoming trailer itself. One such thumbnail has the words “Los Angeles” written across an image of a helicopter racing above a freeway with high rise buildings burning in the distance. Keep Reading

Yesterday it was the news of a new live action Halo series coming this fall, and like Dragon Age and Assassins Creed before it, Ghost Recon Future Soldier will also be receiving the same treatment. The film, titled Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Alpha, will be a 25 minute prequel to the upcoming game.
The short film features an award winning list of filmmakers. The film is directed by Academy Award winning directors Hervé de Crécy and François Alaux, and the script is penned by the Oscar nominee Tim Sexton as well as George Pruss. Last but not least the film will feature cinematography by Trant Opaloch of District 9 fame.

Some comic enthusiasts are refusing to see The Avengers this coming weekend on the grounds that the film will be making close to a billion dollars for the current actors, writers and executives on the film– but not many of the original people who helped CREATE the original characters in the first place will be reaping the profits.
As noted by Calamity John on his tumblr:
…Shamefully, the people who aren’t making a big profit from these movies are the people…who did the essential work of creating them in Keep Reading

She’s known affectionately in the MMA world as Ms. Tapout, as you’ll see below, she has the photos to prove it.
But Jennifer Swift is also a model, actress and writer who fans of the Jace Hall Show, outside of the UFC world, might not be familiar with.
That changes now.
We heard through the grapevine that she wasn’t a shabby gamer…is it true? We also wanted to get some first hand insight on just how crazy the MMA world can be. Here’s what Jennifer Swift had to say.
JHS: What has been your craziest experience in the MMA world so far?
JENNIFER: Craziest experience in MMA so far would be when I saw two girls fighting in the ring and one of them got hit so hard she started Keep Reading

What would it be like if Batman hosted a kid’s birthday party? Based on the last time we saw this happen, often it doesn’t turn out for the best. Perhaps when this assuming mother accidentally picked the Christopher Nolan Batman from a child’s mascot catalogue, she didn’t know what she was in for.
So these poor kids get rabid and angry Batman, showing up and scaring the sh*t out of them, ruining the pinata games, scaring the birthday girl, and even ditching them early. Keep Reading

Habitual felon Charles Everett Hinton had already made a name for himself as a sexual predator, petty thief, and flasher. So what’s a little more larceny — or in this case stealing a bunch of video game systems from a local children’s hospital?
In this case, Hinton broke into Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, and lifted an Xbox, Nintendo DS, and four PlayStations from the Kids with Cancer unit. Keep Reading

Launching this Fall, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is a live-action online series that is based on and set in the Halo world. The launch of the online series will be in perfect timing to align itself in the same window as the November 6 release date of the game.
Forward Unto Dawn will be a big step for Microsoft. It told Variety that this will be the largest investment the company has ever made in an endeavour of this nature. The show will be available exclusively to the Halo Waypoint online community as well as our friends at Machinima. Like other games Keep Reading
We broke the CISPA controversy late last week, almost before the government got away with another act that finds a way to criminalize cyber activity. While we won’t get too deep into the polemic that is private companies being able to share information with the government, we will give you all the information that’s known about the bill.
First and foremost, as noted in the infographic below, CISPA can collect proprietary information, meaning you don’t know what or when something is being collected. Companies could hypothetically share your phone number address and your name amongst other things.
Google has lobbited for the bill, in addition to having support from At&T Keep Reading

Last week I had the pleasure of sitting down with local Seattle gaming startup BodSix‘s CEO Jeff Dixon to discuss their upcoming game “Map Monsters” - which is currently raising funding on Kickstarter.
Q: You have the legendary game designer Richard Garfield on board – how did that come about?
Jeff Dixon: Richard and I both shared an enthusiasm for location based games when we first met. I heard people talking about Foursquare as a game and knew society was in trouble if that represented the pinnacle of location-based games. Richard, was really intrigued with a location-based game mechanic that was now possible with smartphones. Any time you introduce a new mechanic to games, it opens up some interesting possibilities. Richard was eager to push what could be done using location. Keep Reading
The XBox 720 is Microsoft’s only hope to overthrow the alliance of hardcore gaming rebels (Steam and Mobile) – but will they choose the Dark Side (the status quo), isolating their developers and closing off their platform in favor of artificially high prices, or will they step into the light?
Deep in his freon-cooled meditation chamber orbiting far above Microsoft’s Redmond campus, Lord Ballmer felt (perhaps for the first time in many months) the briefest stirring of the emotion most of humans would identify as “relief.”
His unblinking eyes flickered across the green display terminals as fresh quarterly statistics came pouring in from every corner of his vast global empire. The data was…pleasing. Keep Reading
