The Carolina Games Summit – one of the largest one day gaming events in the country- kicks off this Saturday at Wayne College in North Carolina.
The nation’s most 1337 gamers will go head to head in games ranging from Black Ops to Ghost Recon to Magic The Gathering to Starcraft II. Some of the industry’s most vocal leaders will opine on the gaming world’s most relevant issues (state of the industry, violent video games, epic pwnage, etc.) offering a chance for gamers, be it casual or core, to learn more about the industry and catch some exciting competition.
Says Patrick Scott Patterson, one of the speakers and participants in the gaming summit (and our chief gaming historian at The Jace Hall Show):
Over the years, and especially over the past month, we’ve seen Senators, political pundits, talk show hosts, lobbyists and heads of parents groups get a platform on television to talk about video games, all while proving they know nothing of them.
What qualifies these people to speak on video games, anyway?
You have to be qualified to speak on TV about legal matters or medicine but apparently anyone can chat about gaming, except those who actually know it and live it. Now, at this event, we get the microphone. It’s our turn to speak and the media’s turn to listen.
Other speakers slated to talk are industry pros from Atomic Fox, Mighty Rabbit Studios, and SOF Studios.
Tickets are available to the public for $10 each and may be purchased online or at the door. Many of the tournaments will be streaming on Twitch via CGS Twitch from 11a to 6pm EST.
Visit the official web site for a full listing of all 24 tournaments, plus speakers, exhibitors, and additional details. Listed below is the program for the event.

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
