Disappointing Wii U and 3DS sales have caused Nintendo to revise its sales forecast (via WSJ).
In the last report Nintendo planned they would sell 5.5 million Wii U systems between the November launch and March 31, 2013. It also expected the Nintendo 3DS to sell 17.5 million units between April1, 2012 and March 31, 2013.
This marks the second time the company has lowered its 3DS forecast. Originally Nintendo planned to sell 18.5 million by March 1st, then it went down to 17.5 million and now 15 million.
At this point the 3DS has sold over 29.84 million units since launch. The Wii has sold over 99.38 million units to date and 3.06 million Wii U consoles have been sold.
Here is Nintendo’s revised sales forecasts for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS for the third financial quarter ending December 31:
Wii U – 4 million sold by March 31st, 2013
Nintendo 3DS – 15 million sold by March 31st, 2013

In terms of software, Nintendo shipped 11.96 million Wii U games since launch date. The best selling games were the bundles ones, Super Mario Bro.s U and Nintendo Land at 2.1 million and 2.33 million respectively.
Nintendo lowered its full-year sales projections for a second quarter in a row now. Nintendo dropped is forecast by 17% from $8.9 billion to $7.39 billion for the fiscal year to March.
