Electronic Arts and Visceral Games announced the official release date and pre-order bonuses for the upcoming co-op shooter Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel. EA says the Visceral title will be coming on March 26, 2013 and we now have details on the first pre order bonuses below.
We also have some gameplay footage for those of you that haven’t checked it out yet (via GT) as well as some new screenshots and the limited edition trailer after the break (via Joystiq).
Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel will take a more serious tone than previous iterations in the series where PMC agents Alpha and Bravo take to the streets of Mexico in all-out war with the drug cartels. The pair work for a PMC called “Tactical Worldwide Operations (T.W.O),” where players will come “face-to-face with a violent, bloodthirsty drug lord” and must shoot their way through the streets of Mexico to protect an “unwavering political figure determined to take him down.”

The game will continue to build on its roots in strong co-op gameplay while focusing more on “customization and over-the-top action.” This time around the dev team has opted to get rid of the ‘bro-tacular’ style humor in favor of a more Die Hard-like approach that still maintains the kind of personality that made the previous iterations unique.
“With Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel we wanted to take the series in a new direction while also leveraging the aspects that made the first two Army of TWO games unique,” Julian Beak the Executive Producer at Visceral Games said. “We knew coming out of the gate that meaningful co-op gameplay, customization and over-the-top action would be key pillars for us, and we’re bringing these elements to the next level by presenting them in a setting that is more serious in order to dial up the intensity.”

If you cant wait until March 26 pre-ordering Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel will net you the “Overkill Edition” which comes with some in-game goodies. Players will get new game modes, in-game gear/items and a special themed load-out. Here are the details:

Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.

That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
