Activision confirmed today that none other than Trent Reznor has composed the theme to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 as a new trailer for the game (below) hit the web.
Reznor, best known as the frontman of Nine Inch Nails, has recently worked on some pretty high profile films including David Fincher’s Girl with The Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network.
According to USA Today Reznor has put together an extremely aggressive sounding piece for the upcoming Treyarch shooter.
Reznor, who took home an Oscar for his collaboration with Atticus Ross on The Social Network soundtrack, is an avid and long-time gamer as well as being quite a big fan of the “cutting edge” COD franchise.

Trent says that for Black Ops 2, a game being marketed as a near future, mech drone-run battlezone, he knew the piece had to a “weighty” composition to bring out the emotion in the game’s atmosphere. That opposed to the regular military staple “gung-ho patriotic-feeling kind of theme song.”
“I have always looked to that franchise as the cutting edge of what seemingly unlimited budgets and full-on not cutting any corners can do in the current day and age,” Trent says about the Black Ops series.
The NIN frontman is no stranger to the world of gaming. In fact, he has a few other games already on his resume. He previously made contributions to id Software’s Quake and Doom 3.
The latest trailer for the game below featuring villain Raul Menendez was released earlier today:
Craig Hunter – who has written 1178 posts on The Jace Hall Show.
Craig Hunter is a main contributor for the Jace Hall Show and has been an avid gamer for over 15 years. He also freelances for a number of websites and magazines covering mobile products and emerging technologies.

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
