After decades, it’s finally been confirmed that Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd will really give the proverbial finger to Bill Murray and pretty much everyone who wanted Venkman in the movie by officially moving forward with Ghostbusters 3. Yes, all rumors say that the cameras will officially start rolling by next summer. And according to all sources, Murray will not be appearing in the film.
Now Aykroyd is indicating that yes, there will be minor appearances by some of the original cast — but aside from that it will be all new and young actors. Says Aykroyd: “We’ve got a brilliant new writer on it and we’ll be passing the torch on to a new generation. We’re working on it to make it just right to satisfy our fans. I’m confident we’ll be in production in the next year.”
Awesome. Can’t wait for that. And by can’t wait for that, we mean can’t wait to stumble upon it one night on HBO before coming to my senses and changing the channel. But with Rick Moranis retired and Murray unable to locate the script in his house, is there really a point?
Can’t say we blame Aykroyd for getting fed up and moving on — and the fact that Reitman himself is directing the final installment gives me a little hope that Murray will come to his senses and write himself a part.

That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
