Remember how utterly inseparable ‘ol Zynga and Facebook seemed a couple years back? It was like you couldn’t even glance at your FB login page without viewing half a dozen Farmville-related ads or notifications.
Now, it appears, the two companies couldn’t be further apart. Part of this is due to Facebook is no longer in any sort of long-term contract with Zynga; another is that so many other third-party games that are doing so well for Zuckerberg and co: According to the San Francisco Gate, new releases like King.com‘s Candy Crush Saga has more players than the much-anticipated Farmville 2. At this point the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V is only slated to hit the PS3 and Xbox 360 in Spring of 2013. However, the president of Nintendo America, Reggie Fils-Aime, recently spoke about his optimism that the open world crime game would make its way on to the company’s new Wii U platform.
Fils-Aime recently spoke with MTV (via IGN) where he said that there is a great chance GTA V would be coming to the new Nintendo console.
Recent interviews with key members at Rockstar are pointing towards it being a possibility but the company has yet to confirm anything. Rockstar said that it hadn’t made any decisions for additional platforms yet.

The film adaption of video games has been less than stellar over the years with very few title’s being able to sustain themselves like the Resident Evil films. Ubisoft believes that it will change all that come next year when the Assassin’s Creed film comes out (via Polygon).
In terms of Hollywood time, Ubisoft seems to be moving at a break-neck speed with this film, being that most projects are in production for many years. Making it almost hard to believe the film will see the light of day as early as next year.

Along with the incredibly successful launch of Assassin’s Creed 3 we are now hearing about a complete anthology bundle coming for the franchise.
Ubisoft said that the estimated sales of AC3 in the first week surpassed 3.5 million which the company said is a 100% year-over-year increase from the last title. Now Ubisoft plans to release every console game in the franchise in a complete collectors edition anthology.
Rumors began this morning when a Russian fan site reported that details of the bundle emerged on Amazon France.

North American Playstation owners have been waiting for the delayed PS Store upgrade and now it has finally come out. The revamped store will bring a new homepage and much improved search functionality.
Originally due out back on October 23, the new store has now gone live in North America after Sony experienced some hiccups with the European launch. The new PS Store had been delayed for PS3 users in the United States, Canada, Brazil and Mexico until now.

We previously reported to you about Microsoft launching its new online store that will include everything from movies and TV to music and games. Unfortunately, according to Forbes, Microsoft will not be allowing any mature rated games on its new service either in North America or Europe.
Titles with a rating any higher than 16+ PEGI will not be sold or supported. In the U.S Microsoft will not be supporting any games rated mature. This is both bothersome and mildly confusing being that Microsoft not only supports and sells M-rated content through Xbox 360 it is also a major game publisher for some pretty serious violent and otherwise mature titles.

Seems that those damn Japanimation companies/outlets are taking themselves far too seriously for Cartoon Network.
According to Asahi.com, the channel is telling its overseas anime distributors that it must make its content more acceptable for children across the globe, or else CN will not air its content. Does this mean we can count on increasingly lame-ass content from a former great? Continue reading “Daily Anime: Cartoon Network Tells Japan to Lighten Up — Or Else!” »

With the official announcement of Wii U behind us now it is time to look at the content it will be offering come launch date in November. Although some of these titles will be exclusive many of them won’t, they will be ports from other platforms.
It will be interesting to see how many of them choose to simply move the experience over to the Wii U or if the developers will make use of the console’s features to enhance and change the games. Continue reading “Daily Gaming: Darksiders 2 Comes To Wii U” »

According to a report from Daily Mail late last night, both Apple and Google have shown interest in acquiring Premier League live TV streaming rights for next season after rights to the current season come to an end. Apple would presumably add the service to their Apple TV content lineup, at least in the UK, and Google to their Google TV platform.
The Premier League is seen as the type of premium content that will help establish Apple TV in the UK and boost iPad sales Continue reading “Apple and Google In Talks To Acquire Premier League TV Streaming Rights” »

In protest of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), British rapper Dan Bull has just dropped the music video above, which fittingly enough, is now displayed prominently on The Pirate Bay’s homepage.
His message ostensibly is that the SOPA could end up giving government and media companies the power to censor something such as an independent rap video (one that presumably uses samples) on a site like YouTube. He isn’t the only one, as cover songs on YouTube seem to be one of the biggest arguments to why government shouldn’t have the power to censor sites displaying copyrighted material illegally. If you don’t know what the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is, legislation that aims to combat sites from posting pirated content, it’s probably time you start paying attention to what this could mean for the future of your freedom online.
Below we’ll break down everything you need to know so you can decide where you stand…
First of all, who supports SOPA?
The Motion Picture Association of America, pharmaceutical and media companies, U.S. Registrar of Copyrights Maria Pallante, union representatives such as the AFL-CIO and the Teamsters, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, among others.
Essentially, the record labels and hollywood studios (and just about every union hoping the move will create jobs) approves the act.
Why do they approve of it? Most likely due to the $135 billion they, along with publishing houses, lost to piracy last year, according to estimates by the Chamber of Commerce. Continue reading “Stop The Online Piracy Act Before It’s Too Late: Here’s What You Need to Know” »

Amazon announced yesterday that it had increased the library of its “Amazon Prime” streaming service towards its goal of 13,000 titles by early next year.
The deal will allow Amazon Prime members to access all prior seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, every episode of Lost, and all previous seasons of The Secret Life of the American Teenager, among other series.
This happened almost simultaneously with Netflix announcement that they had re-newed their deal with Disney and will maintain such titles as Private Practice, Brothers and Sisters, and Ugly Betty, as well as new additions, including Switched at Birth, Kick Buttowski and Alias.
Nothing to terribly ride home about, in essence Continue reading ““Amazon Prime” Readies For The Spotlight, Takes on Netflix With New Deal” »

Perhaps the biggest revelation to come out of the recently released Steve Jobs bio by author Walter Isaacson is the possibility of an Apple branded HDTV. Jobs told Isaacson he “finally cracked it” when talking about plans to create an integrated TV that is “completely easy to use” and that “seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud”.
Today analysts are coming out of the woodwork claiming Apple is already working on the device and has been for quite some time. The New York Times published a report by Nick Bilton where he claims Apple Continue reading “Apple Working on HDTV with Siri Voice-Control and iCloud Integration” »

With Steve Jobs’ officially authorized biography set to hit bookstores on Monday, more and more bits of information are beginning to leak. Earlier we brought you a look at several excerpts from the book on Jobs talking about Android, Bill Gates, and his biological father, among other things.
The Washington Post recently brought us a story where Jobs tells author Walter Isaacson about his ambition to build an Apple TV. A real Apple-branded HD television, not that set-top box, hobby project currently sporting the Apple TV moniker. Jobs makes it sound as if he has specific plans. By saying things like, “I finally cracked it,” it sounds like Apple may be hard at work Continue reading “Proof Steve Jobs was working on an Apple branded HDTV” »
