At today’s Apple iPad launch event it unveiled “the new iPad” boasting a retina display, brand new 5-megapixel camera system, faster A5X dual-core processor with quad-core graphics, and for the most part unchanged design. Preorders for “the new iPad” (that’s right, not “iPad 3″) begin today with the device becoming available on March 16 in most major countries.
Apple will keep the base model at $499 and the new 4G LTE model will start at the same price as the current iPad 2′s WiFi+3g model, $629. The iPad 2 will drop down to $399. Now onto the good stuff… what does this mean for gamers?
“This presents a problem for us in presenting it to you. For the first time an iPad has a higher resolution than this entire display behind you… That’s a fun challenge.” — Phil Schiller, Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing

Would you believe me if I told you Google was working on glasses, similar in look to a pair of Oakleys, but more akin to the Terminator glasses with a HUD and built-in operating system? According to a new report, they are not only real, but Google might soon be launching a beta-pilot program to test the glasses (Google Goggles?) outside of its locked down facilities.
The report comes from our friends over at 9to5Google who cite a reliable source that has actually seen a prototype of the glasses. Here’s what we know so far… Keep Reading

Apple temporarily stopped selling the iPhone 4S in Beijing and Shanghai right before the device officially went on sale in China last night. Long lines outside of Apple Stores in Beijing started forming days in advance of today’s launch, and ultimately SWAT teams were brought in to help control disgruntled crowds who attacked security and threw eggs.
Many have reported the angry mobs were full of “devout fans”, but The New York Times explains that most were migrant workers hired to sit in line and purchase the device for gray market scalpers. Keep Reading

The idea of waterproofing your iDevice is nothing new. A few months back we showed you The Proof waterproof watch kit for iPod nano. However, at CES 2012 a few companies are showing off some truly impressive waterproofing solutions that will allow you to full submerge your device with seemingly no consequences.
First up is Liquipel who has created a special coating that claims to protect your smartphone from water damage. Keep Reading

There seems to be a new malware threat popping up on our mobile platforms just about every other week; most typically affect a small portion of users that downloaded an app from an untrustworthy developer, but the finger often gets pointed at app approval guidelines in place by app stores like the Android Market.
Until all the recent controversy from CarrierIQ, there really hasn’t been a whole lot to worry about for end users in terms of malware, spyware, and viruses. That might not necessarily be true any longer, at least for users of Windows Phone devices. Keep Reading

We knew it would only be so long before rumors began of an Apple Branded HDTV and today longtime Apple analyst Gene Munster certainly didn’t disappoint. via Business Insider” target=”_blank”>Talking at the IGNITION: Future of Media Event, Munster made some claims of what we can expect from Apple’s upcoming living-room take over.
In case you need a refresher, we’ve already heard a bunch of rumors that Apple is working on an HDTV set, most of which seem to stem from Steve Jobs’ comments to author Walter Isaacson that he had “finally cracked” the TV before his passing.
After urging audience members to hold off Keep Reading

Perhaps the biggest revelation to come out of the recently released Steve Jobs bio by author Walter Isaacson is the possibility of an Apple branded HDTV. Jobs told Isaacson he “finally cracked it” when talking about plans to create an integrated TV that is “completely easy to use” and that “seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud”.
Today analysts are coming out of the woodwork claiming Apple is already working on the device and has been for quite some time. The New York Times published a report by Nick Bilton where he claims Apple Keep Reading

The man in the images above and below is Trevor Prideaux, who until having this Nokia C7 smartphone built into his prosthetic arm would often resort to simply placing the phone on a table or other flat surface in order to use it.
The story comes from a report by The Telegraph who profiled Prideaux. Although Nokia, prosthetic expert Steve Gallichan and others helped embed the device into the fiberglass limb, the Nokia C7 actually wasn’t Prideaux’s first choice. He originally Keep Reading

The wait is finally over, Google and Samsung execs just got off stage in Hong Kong where they unveiled the Galaxy Nexus alongside Android 4.0, a.k.a Ice Cream Sandwich. We’ll be bringing you a closer look at Ice Cream Sandwich shortly, but until then, here’s what you need to know about the Galaxy Nexus.
Sporting a slightly curved designed as hinted in teaser videos leading up to the event, the Nexus will feature a 4.65-inch 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel rear camera, 1 GB of RAM, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, built-in NFC and 4G LTE capabilities, 1.3 front-facing cam, 16 or 32GB of storage, 1750mAh battery, barometer, and the majority of other goodies you’ve come to expect. Motorola just took the wraps off the newest RAZR, dubbed the Droid RAZR (Motorola RAZR outside the US) that we first got a look at through a series of teasers in the past weeks. The device sports a 960 x 540 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.2 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, microSD, 8-megapixel camera (1080p video capture), and 1.3-megapixel front-facing cam. The device also packs in a 1780mAh battery which the company claims will provide you with 12.5 hours talk time and 8.9 hours video playback.
As expected it will come with Android Gingerbread, but execs are quick to note it will get Ice Cream Sandwich when Google finally makes it available. It will also support Motorola’s own webtop platform, be capable of downloading HD Netflix vids, and of course, run on Verizon’s 4G LTE network.
As for the physical design, expect that kevlar backside spotted earlier in the week, Corning Gorilla glass, and kevlar and aluminum accents throughout. Keep Reading

There are no shortage of watch like devices (inspired by the iPod nano, no doubt) that are powered by Android and available on the market. However, the wristwatch form the WIMM Module takes in the video below is only one product concept that wearable technology company WIMM has in mind for this 1-inch device.
Imagine inserting the WIMM Module into a pendant, clipped to clothing nano-style, or using it as an accessibility product attached to wheelchairs. They even have plans to see it attached to the “back of a stethoscope”. Third-party accessory makers can easily produce peripherals and other unique implementations for the device thanks to dockable pin connectors.
While it is running Android 2.1, the 1-inch x 1-inch display doesn’t leave Keep Reading

Just in case you haven’t yet gotten your hands on a pre-order of Apple’s iPhone 4S (which will launch publicly tomorrow), you may have to wait at least a few weeks to get the device. As several news outlets are reporting, all carriers are listing shipping times at three or four weeks, meaning if you haven’t already placed your pre-order, you won’t be getting your device delivered tomorrow along with everyone else.

While as of yet it only sells Chromebooks and a few accessories, Google has officially opened up their first retail store in London today. Located inside PC World on Tottenham Court Road, the space is actually more of a store within a store and at only 285 square, it’s far from the latest grandiose Apple Store opening. Still, as a Google spokesperson notes, this marks Google’s “first foray into physical retail” and if successful could lead to a more aggressive brick and mortar retail approach.
“It is our first foray into physical retail. This is a new channel for us and it’s still very, very early days. It’s something Google is going to play with and see where it leads.”- Arvind Desikan, Google UK head of consumer marketing

dockBoss+ is an interesting little adapter cable that allows you to connect your Android device or BlackBerry to your standard 30-pin connector iPhone or iPod speaker dock.
You probably realize, like we do, that most speaker docks include the ability to connect a non-Apple device via an aux cable plugged into the device’s headphone jack. Unfortunately, this option sacrifices one of the best features of these docks, the ability to charge your iPhone or iPod while it’s docked. dockBoss+, on the other hand, will charge up your Android just like an iOS device. Oh, and a built-in charge converter will even let you use the adapter with legacy speaker docks that only have Firewire. Keep Reading

Looking to upgrade to a new Android device on Sprint? Starting today Samsung’s Galaxy S II variant, the Epic 4G Touch is officially available via the Sprint website. It’s gonna set you back $200 on the usual two year commitment, but the good news is you’ll be getting one of the better Android-powered smartphones on the market for much less than possible before now.
If you couldn’t bring yourself to part with $600+ for the unlocked Galaxy S II, the subsidized price will definitely make it easier to make the switch. The 4G WiMax-capable device sports a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display and an impressive 7.7-thin design. Most of the other hardware specs mirror its Galaxy S II counterpart available on other carriers. There has been much talk recently about Apple’s iPod being on the way out, mainly to make room for a single all-in-one device that the iPhone pretty much already is. That hasn’t stopped Sony from launching a new personal media player, running Gingerbread and with some pretty decent hardware specs, but unfortunately lacking a phone. Keep Reading

There has been much talk about a potential next gen Nexus device, the line of smartphones Google has worked closely with manufacturers to create. All signs point to “Nexus Prime” as the device’s moniker (or possibly just its codename. Either way, there have been leaks of internal and legal documents pointing towards Samsung working on the next iteration Nexus.
Many expect the Prime to be one of the first running Android Ice Cream Sandwich, which is confirmed to launch sometime in October. While we have some rumored specs including a 720p 4.65″ Super AMOLED display, today we’ve come across these images that could very well resemble the next-gen Nexus. Keep Reading
