Given the number of real life Mortal Kombat (dance-offs), Halos and even Mega Mans, it was probably only a matter of time before we got a real-life Fruit Ninja.
But that’s just what Scott and Brendo (the dubstep duo that last brought us ‘Cute Kittens Flying to Dubstep‘) have given us. Continue reading “Real Life Fruit Ninja Destroys to Dubstep” »

Those he’s hailed as yet another in the long line of today’s chiptune artists who hail from the UK, there’s really nothing chiptune-y about Shirobon outside his old stuff (see “Lightspeed Lucy” below), which is about the closest you’ll hear someone come to using a Game Boy to make a techno song, awesomely.
For the most part, however, Shirobon leaves behind the 8-Bit soundtracks of his youth to focus on making compelling and, dare we say, actual pop songs. He’s also been known to utilize genres as diverse as dubstep, hip-hop, and techno to deliver his musical vision. Time for your moment of zen, this time in the form of dubstep…and flying kittens in capes. As to how exactly these guys got some of those kittens to fly so high is really beyond us — maybe felines really dig hip-hop, especially on a sunny day.
*UPDATE* Singer/producer Scott Winn has confessed to the gentle tossing of several tiny kittens into an immense sheepskin blanket for the making of this video, which will still surely have PETA all over his ass any day now. As Mr. Winn is quick to point out, however:
“Before you go all crazy on me for “hurting” cats, you should know that the cats were handled with GREAT care. Continue reading “Daily Dubstep: And Now, Caped Kittens Flying to Grimy Beats” »

A human who advocates exterminating the entire human race, Ashe 3.0‘s hyperkinetic blend of DJing, dubstep, hip-hop and nerdcore (with some chiptunes thrown in for good measure) would be a kick-ass soundtrack for the apocalypse.
The fact that Mr. 3.0 manages to blend all of the above on nearly every track he’s made makes it all the more entertaining, again reiterating the theory that sometimes music is often best when its erratic, jarring, and impossible to categorize.(aka best for those who are suffering from intense ADHD).
Ashe anounces himself as Continue reading “Daily Soundcloud: Ashe 3.0 Decimates With His Chaotic Brand of Nerdcore” »

I’m a sucker for a good name, especially if it indirectly or even accidentally references Megatron’s mutation into Galvatron at the hands of Unicron in the Transformers universe. Calvertron‘s especially good at taking often hackneyed/sui generis and perhaps even overplayed genres of music like electronica and dubstep and making them into something new, improved, and generally just kick-ass.
His collaboration with Meleefresh on “8BitDreamz” is exactly what should make half-assed dubstep artists scared — it takes the genre and transforms (see how I did that?) it into something rather kick-ass, incorporating chiptune-flavored melodies with a drone fembot voice and erratic, and chaotic, dubstep. This may be the best Skrillex video ever released, even though it’s not an ‘official’ Skrillex video (yet).
Honors here go to xerograde aka Boohonda, who was somehow observant (or high) enough to think, “Hey, you know what would make an awesome combination? Skrillex and Animaniacs.” If you haven’t seen the dude’s fake IKEA commercials, here ya go. Continue reading “Daily Dubstep: Animaniacs Do The Skillrex Dance” »

Maybe Canadian dubstep-inspired electronic rock is to U.S. dubstep-inspired electronic rock, what Canadian prog rock is to American prog rock. Maybe just more ‘progressive,’ in general, or pushing the envelope, is the best way to sum up Toronto’s LIONS.
Take ‘ZOMBiAC’, LIONS’ stunning new track, which takes the fast-becoming, played-out genre and pushes it to some new levels.
While there are those who who wonder if dubstep is becoming the new disco, if the truth were told and there were more groups like LIONS, maybe we’d get more than just a bunch of guys who want to sound like Skrillex…this wades in Continue reading “DAILY SOUNDCLOUD: LIONS Merge Electro/Dubstep with Bloody Asian Horror” »

If you’ve never heard Swedish electronic musician Liquid Stranger, aka Martin Stääf, consider this an informal introduction to someone already being hailed as ”the epitome of Transnational Dubstep.“
He’s made a name for himself remixing all kinds of different artists’ songs with his own eclectic brand of multinational-flavored grime, in some cases, making them better than the originals.
His latest remix for Shinedown’s hit single “Unity” is pretty much proof – Liquid has managed to capture the song’s main melody as well as its catchiest parts, while at the same time using his own l33t brand of grime to make it (thankfully) heavier. It’s one of those few songs where the title tells you everything you need to know:
“Sick, Epic, Dope, Banging” is the latest track from Drop Goblin — it compares favorably to Skrillex, with hints of Deadmau5 and Bare Noize thrown in and ultimately forms an epic drop.

I always thought DJs were a dime a dozen — at least around L.A. That was before I stumbled upon this clip of the truly talented Mike Tompkins via ViralViralVideos, who looks like a dubstep god in the making — not to mention a hell of a multi-tasker: he’s managed to mix Santigold’s Disparate Youth and Skrillex’s Cinema, using only his voice a capella (that means all sounds were made with his mouth), creative mixing, and live looping.
You kind of have to watch the video to appreciate it, but he’s got a pretty amazing ability to capture the feel of both songs pretty much dead-on. Continue reading “DJ Uses Voice Only For an Amazing Dubstep Mash-Up” »

We’re lucky to have a fanbase at The Jace Hall Show that not only knows what the hell they are talking about, but are also talented individuals who are looking to expand their creativity and take their art to another level.
Anyway we can help with the latter and try to prove the former is our main goal.
We’re thrilled to share this latest message from a fan, who calls himself TANG and has been working with a new genre of music that he dubs, Nerdstep — dubstep done with 8-bit soundboards with a video game/anime focus. Tang says it was Jace’s original Street Fighter tribute that inspired him to go ahead with the idea (and make a Street Fighter track of his own). Continue reading “Have Passion? Dubstep duo Delta Heavy collaborated to create a soundtrack to all of your classic childhood toys as they’re brilliantly animated, and more importantly, brutally maimed.
Anybody else remember some of these collecting dust in the attic as a kid? Connect Four, Battleship, Scrabble…and now you get to see all of them being butchered, hacked, and ground up, and all in glorious stop-motion animation to “Get By,” DH’s latest. If by chance you’re in the neighborhood of Meridian, Idaho you’re probably very familiar with the Cadger Family’s Christmas Light display.
With over 35,000 LED lights and 64 Light O Rama channels (Light O Rama being the leading manufacturer and retailer of systems used to create animated shows involving lights, music and motion, of course), the family decided to spice things up this year with a dubstep re-mix of the Nutcracker. Don’t know exactly what possessed rising dub step star Ramses B to make a grimy dubstep song out of spare Skyrim parts.
Some are calling it a good-natured tribute to what many are calling the greatest game in a long timeOthers are saying he was just really high.
Suffice to say, what an epic-sounding track. Picture mighty dragons and their horn-helmeted slayers, only to be interrupted by a familiar soundbite. Continue reading “New Skyrim Dubstep Song Takes an Arrow In The Knee” »

Creating a great dubstep song is hard enough — listen to any song and you can hear the knack for editing, accuracy, and ingenuity it takes. Almost as difficult: editing together a bunch of movie clips to go with it, all of which need to be just as precisely timed.
But just because we’re gluttons for pain, we needed to know the specifics. Enter dubstep stars Trick James and their collaboration with aspiring Chris Cunningham, Mr. Bo Johnson. Continue reading “Exclusive ‘Trick James’ Interview: How Great Dubstep is Made” »

It’s reminscent to Michael Winslow’s tribute to whole lotta love, except this video is a whole lotta Skrillex and a lot less Led Zepplin.

You had to think it was only a matter of time before somebody made a dubstep song out of Danny Elfman scores, but we’re so glad that it was director Bo Gus who decided to collaborate with dubsteppers Trick James for this particularly brilliant mutant-hybrid of what are arguably Burton and Elfman’s greatest hits: Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, and Tales From the Crypt.

In the midst of Dubstep Guns, the miraculous little mash of sci-fi, dubstep and about a billion laser blasts, you might have caught notice of what was making those high-powered rifles so goddamn loud.
