This video from earlier this year was sent to us, proving the public’s notorious love of gaming and nerdcore isn’t just an American thing; now a group of gaming geeks and nerds in France has produced and directed the video “I’m a Geek”, a celebration of all things gaming and nerdery.
Thus the French accents perhaps/slightly more sexual visuals. But there’s serious devotion to nerdery here, even if it’s more European.
“I’m a Geek” features 3 French ‘nerds’: Loacs, Johntah, and Shayna. Continue reading ““I’m a Geek” Music Video Proves The French May Be Geeks (But That Doesn’t Stop ‘Em From Balling)” »

There hasn’t been much of a market outside the U.S. for Buichi Terasawa’s “Space Adventure Cobra”, an anime series that premiered in the late 70s and lasted up until 1994. In its basic form, the series wasn’t much more than a Philip K. Dick-inspired tale of John, a bored office worker whose pal encourages him to take a vacation from his insipid life.
John visits TripMovie Corporation, which enables him to live his (literal) dream life as a sort of super-powerful warrior who must fight super-powerful interplanetary bad guys, and soon dreams are mixing with reality and John can’t tell the difference…so yes, it’s basically Total Recall.
But it’s also inspired a pretty cool video for a certain French dance band, Justice, known for their Grammy-winning remixes of songs by bands like MGMT. Continue reading “DAILY ANIME: 70′s Japanimation ‘Space Adventure Cobra’ Inspires Kick-Ass Music Video” »

While Dr. Steve Mann ‘s wearing what looks like the newest and most revolutionary in virtual gaming technology, they’re actually designed that way just so he can see. Known as a Prosthetic Augmediated Reality Device, what’s he’s wearing assists vision as a form of what he calls ‘wearable computing.’
The device is something he himself invented, and even carries documentation for, in case some people need an explanation (which the manager at this McDonald’s did). And yet even after showing them, he was harassed and physically attacked by 3 Mickey D’s staff members. Continue reading “DAILY TECH: Man Assaulted in McDonald’s For Wearing Digital Eye Glasses” »

Ever wanted to see a complete and very detailed history of the entire evolution of PC gaming, put together by dedicated gaming geeks and covering pretty much the whole canon? We’ve got exactly what you need, only without the epic-length video to get in the way.
Courtesy of Reverse Enginears — a group of artists who spend a lot of their time remixing/editing/messing with various forms of multimedia, and bending/twisting it into their own unique (and often bizarre) thing — comes a fully detailed outline of pretty much everything that’s happened since then called “The Evolution of PC Gaming.” Continue reading “DAILY TECH: The Complete History of PC Gaming…in 2 1/2 Minutes” »

We’ll spare you inevitable comments and comparisons to the last Star Wars trilogy. But man, if Lucas was looking for someone to help take over when he keels, he might want to consider hiring the brains behind “Hope.”
At the very least, as storyboard/concept artists or something…
Straight outta France comes director Michael Schaack and crew’s“Hope” – a Star Wars: The Old Republic fan film that really has everything you need – tons of the requisite freighters and ships, Continue reading “Star Wars Old Republic Fan Film: A 6+ Minute Nerd Orgasm” »

To paraphrase a particular Seinfeld episode, it usually helps to know when not to take it out. At the end of a first date, w/o warning, in the car… during dinner, over the lobster bisque. Common-sense places. And apparently everywhere else, as a particular Frenchman proved this week, when, after being ‘caught’ (and published) on Google Street View peeing in his front yard, decided to sue for 10,000 euros. And since he’s “the laughing stock of his entire neighborhood,”could they please take the f*cking photo down as well?
According to Mashable, Europeans have taken more of a stand on privacy issues and publication of private data with social networking platforms like Facebook and Continue reading “Man Sues Google Street View – For Catching Him Peeing” »

We know this is our 10000th article on the singer, but let’s face it — in what’s been a slow music news week, Rihanna’s the gift that keeps on giving. This past weekend was no exception, as the singer spent a good chunk o’ Euros in the local Parisian sex shoppe, aka Lovestore, during some touring downtime.
I know what you’re thinking…what did she spend her money on, exactly? We’re so glad you asked. According to The Huffington Post, Handcuffs,’Toys’ (the exact specifics aren’t quite all known, but let that imagination run wild), DVDs, some book by Ellen Von Unwerth, lingerie, and Continue reading “Rihanna Spends $1500 in A Sex Shop On….” »
