Hideo Kojima made another recent appearance on GTTV with Geoff Keighley to talk more about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. While he really didn’t get into many new juicy details or any new information on how there will be two games that make up MGSV, but it did get us thinking about some of things we want to see KojiPro take into consideration for Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain.
Kojima talked about how he feels the pressure from ever-popular Western developers saying “we really want to reinvent ourselves.” He went on to explain that the sudden switch to roman numerals was based on this idea of competing with the western developers, saying the “V” in the title “stands for Victory.”

1) Playstation 3 may have just surpassed the XBOX 360
I’ll skip the traditional XBOX/PS3 fanboy arguments and cut right to the chase, The Last of Us presents yet another PS3 exclusive that the 360 seemingly has no answer for. For every Halo, Gears, Dust and Fable, there is a Journey, Uncharted, Killzone, MLB: The Show, God of War, Gran Turismo (5), Metal Gear Solid, Infamous, Ni No Kuni, and now what looks like it could be the Game of The Year in The Last of Us.
Ask yourself what you are missing by not having an XBOX 360 and then ask yourself that same question with the PS3. Based on the GAMES alone, PS3 is looking like something you can’t live without. We’re not sure if we can say the same thing about the 360 given its recent titles. Continue reading “6 Things I Learned From THE LAST OF US Gameplay Trailer” »

Humans Must Answer is a 2D space shmup that is poised to reinvigorate the genre while attracting new players to it. With its open beta available, the dev team at Sumom Games is already noticing players that don’t normally gravitate towards these kinds of experiences enjoying the game.
How is Humans Must Answer doing this?
The game manages the delicate balance of offering an experience hardcore shmup fans will appreciate while allowing enough of a unique approach to the genre that new players are interested as well.
With its slick, “eye-popping” graphics and over the top explosions, on the surface HMA is what every shmup fan wants. But when you peel back the layers here, there a number of advanced weapon systems like “Support Weapons” and deployable turrets as well as non-linear gameplay and tactical boss battles. Close to 20 minutes of Battlefield 4 gameplay footage hit the internet this week, raising some impressive ooh’s and ahh’s from the masses. But around the one-minute mark, we got to thinking whether that was all the game was trying to achieve…
As we move onto the fourth iteration of the Battlefield franchise we still can’t honestly answer ‘what makes it different from any other military shooter on the market?’ EA released this description of the game to help answer that question:
“Battlefield 4 is a genre defining action blockbuster made from moments that blur the line between game and glory…with dynamic destructible environments, epic vehicular combat and the chaos of all-out war, Battlefield 4 gives you the freedom to do more and be more for an unrivaled entertainment experience.”
Sorry, but I have no idea what the hell any of that means. Several words did stick out to me however, namely “action blockbuster” ,“entertainment experience”, and “genre defining.” Continue reading “Looks Great, So Why Aren’t We Impressed With Battlefield 4?” »

Adam Saltsman the creator of Canabalt along with Solipskier co-creator Greg Wohlwend have created a game called Hundreds. The puzzler is available today on the iOS app store. Check out the gameplay video and image gallery below.
The game is a simple yet addictive puzzler with an excellent original soundtrack where players must touch various circles on the screen until there value accumulatively reach 100. The player touches a circle to make its numerical value grow and releases it to make it stop. The idea is that while a circle is growing it becomes “volatile” and can’t come in contact with any other circle while it’s in this state or it’s game over.
