Say What? Average Gamer is 30 years Old, Probably a Woman

No they aren’t nine year olds with nothing but time on their hands, on average they are 30 years old and have been playing video games for 12 years. Also, the split is almost 50/50 guys vs. girls, with 38% of all gamers playing “social games.” The last statistic indicating that games like Farmville and Words with Friends have escewed the gaming demographic over the past several years.
Perhaps the most striking number were the total number of dollars grossed from 2011 – almost $25 billion for the gaming industry as a whole.
