And of course, clearly, this is sarcasm, but some douche is gonna be like, “Nah, I’m good thanks! Just the tits!” And I’ll reply to him, “Okay, that’s one order of tits. Is that for here or to go?” and it’s probably going to be To-Go because if you’re deranged enough to actually just want a pair of detached boobies in your hand, then I’m sure me and all these other customers do not care to know what you do with those severed breasts in the comfort of your basement.

Statistics from the Entertainment Software Association (the group businessmen who don’t play video games look towards for information on the product they want to make money off of) has released the following data on what a video gamer “looks like” in 2012.

No they aren’t nine year olds with nothing but time on their hands, on average they are 30 years old and have been playing video games for 12 years. Also, the split is almost 50/50 guys vs. girls, with 38% of all gamers playing “social games.” The last statistic indicating that games like Farmville and Words with Friends have escewed the gaming demographic over the past several years.

Perhaps the most striking number were the total number of dollars grossed from 2011 – almost $25 billion for the gaming industry as a whole. Thats 7 billion less than the entire global box office (which North America contributed roughly $10 billion, too). Continue reading “Say What? Average Gamer is 30 years Old, Probably a Woman” »

Consider that video games and porn make up two of the hottest issues in today’s zeitgeist, it became only a matter of time before the likes of CNN posited whether the two are causing a decline in the male generation.

Their reasoning, you ask?

Video game and porn addictions are different. They are “arousal addictions,” where the attraction is in the novelty, the variety Continue reading “Are Video Games (and Porn) Causing Men To Become WEAKER?” »

It’s become something of a regular feature for us to spotlight some of the most popular and dynamic females in the video gaming and geek world. But never have we featured a female who not only possessed some serious gaming skills, but was a scientist with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology who specializes in phobias, trauma, and other anxiety-related illnesses.

Who better to answer many of the debates encircling the gaming world: Do video games cause us to become violent? Are they harmful to our health? Between science and Halo, which one would you pick?

We asked Andrea Letamendi (@ArkhamAsylumDoc) all these questions and more: Continue reading “How Nerdy Are You? Andrea Letamendi Talks The SCIENCE of Gaming” »

We continue our coverage of all things Copsplay, featuring Candy Keane this week. Her name might sound familiar, not simply because it bears a striking resemblance to the holiday treat, but because she’s runs Three Muses Clothing, one of the biggest outlets for cosplayers in the U.S.

What is it about cosplaying that is so unique? Does she use her skills to help fans who’d love to cosplay, but have no idea how to construct a costume (i.e. most guys)?

We asked Candy all this and more:

It seems you’ve cosplayed a lot of characters…which one usually gets the best response from fans?

Classic Wonder Woman is the all-time crowd pleaser. Easily recognizable with a fan base that spans every age. The biggest response always Continue reading “‘Wonder Woman’ Candy Keane Shows Us Her Cosplay” »

A regular at Blizzcon, PAX and Anime Expo, Christina Sims is no stranger to the cosplay world. But despite her creative and detailed cosplaying, what is it about the characters she emulates that she loves so much? It’s not an easy task bring Diablo or WoW characters to life in costume, but Christina has made a (literal) art of it, how does she do it?

You’ve probably seen Christina, a.k.a. Zerina Cosplay, donning some amazing costumes at various conventions, but what is it about those characters that she loves so much? How does she bring them to life?

We asked her exactly that and more:

JHS: What is your main passion as a cosplayer?

As a cosplayer, I mainly enjoy the creative aspect of the hobby. Being able to sit down and learn something new or work with a new material is always exciting. With each costume I do, I try to incorporate a new technique or try a different assembly method just so I’m making sure I continue to enhance my Continue reading “Christina Sims Shows Off Her Favorite Costumes” »
