Square Enix’s highly acclaimed DS title ‘The World Ends With You’ landed in the App store this weekend. The iOS version of the title is completely reworked for the platform and includes some added functionality as well.
Originally developed for the DS by personnel from Nintendo’s Kingdom Hearts team, ‘The World Ends With You’ (‘It’s A Wonderful World’ in Japan) is an action RPG set in modern day Shibuya, Tokyo. In the DS version, some complained the game can be complicated at times both because of its original approach to combat and the steep learning curve of the game’s battle system.

The Gears of War franchise has been hugely successful for its developer Epic, but it looks like a somewhat less epic iOS game is where the developer is making the most money.
Infinity Blade for iPad currently holds the title for Epic’s most profitable franchise raking in over $30 million in the 18 months since the first game’s release (via Gamasutra).

Infinity Blade: Dungeons will be a departure from the series’ current formula, introducing a Diablo-style gameplay style. Like the name implies, the game will be a dungeon crawler with a focus on weapon crafting and collectibles.
This our first look at the game since it debuted live on stage during Apple’s third-generation iPad unveiling. According to IGN, who got their hands on the game (video below), “Dungeons plays beautifully,” and long time fans of the current on-rails Infinity Blade experience won’t be disappointed. While its not clear we’ll ever get our hands on concepts currently in Apple’s labs, a review of the new iPad from Anandtech has leaked details about a physical iPad controller Apple has in the works. At the same time we get a look at the brand new chrome line of Xbox 360 controllers officially announced by Microsoft today.
This isn’t the first time info has surfaced regarding a remote/controller concept from Apple. A patent that surfaced in April 2010 showed Apple was working on gaming accessories. The images in the patent showed a Nintendo DS-like design with a D-Pad, two game buttons and a touchscreen in the middle.
The report from Anandtech claimed Apple has an internal project dedicated to bringing a physical controller to market, but also noted it was uncertain whether the device would ever become available. We know there is certainly a market for physical controllers compatible with iOS devices and with confirmation Apple is working on it, it’s entirely possible we’ll see an Apple branded gaming controller in the near future.
At the same time of rumors of a controller for iOS devices, Microsoft has confirmed today the availability of its chrome series of Xbox 360 controllers.
Available starting mid-May depending on your location, the controllers will come in red, blue, and chrome variants and sell for $55 through xbox.com/accessories and local retailers. Head past the break for images of the three controllers:

While it’s been rumored in the past, Blizzard is once again talking about World of Warcraft coming to mobile devices. Up until now the developer has only release the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory, an iOS app that allows you to view in game stats and manage auction house and guilds.
In an interview at Blizzard headquarters, Senior World of Warcraft producer John Lagrave talked with Eurogamer about the possibilities of bringing the game to mobile platforms like the iPhone. From the sounds of Lagrave’s comments, the company is having some trouble figuring out how to make the WoW experience work on the smaller screens. At today’s Apple iPad launch event it unveiled “the new iPad” boasting a retina display, brand new 5-megapixel camera system, faster A5X dual-core processor with quad-core graphics, and for the most part unchanged design. Preorders for “the new iPad” (that’s right, not “iPad 3″) begin today with the device becoming available on March 16 in most major countries.
Apple will keep the base model at $499 and the new 4G LTE model will start at the same price as the current iPad 2′s WiFi+3g model, $629. The iPad 2 will drop down to $399. Now onto the good stuff… what does this mean for gamers?
“This presents a problem for us in presenting it to you. For the first time an iPad has a higher resolution than this entire display behind you… That’s a fun challenge.” — Phil Schiller, Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing

We first told you about this iPad/iPhone-controlled quadrocopter in our holiday gift list, and today the second generation AR Drone 2.0 is now officially up for preorder. The device comes with the same $300 price tag, but packs in a bunch of new features.
The new AR Drone is capable of capturing or live streaming 720p HD video right to YouTube at 30fps with a 92° wide-angle lens. There is also a new gesture, or “flip button”, that will make the device barrel roll in the air on command. Another new addition is a new USB port for capturing video from the built-in HD to a portable drive. The overall design of the drone is pretty much what we’ve seen before, but we’re not complaining. As before you’ll need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch or Android device to pilot the device.
The company is building levels for Continue reading “Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Available For Preorder Now, Ships in September” »

The exploration of the vast world of Skyrim has just been made a little more manageable thanks to the Skyrim Official World Interactive Map app for iOS. Bethesda has teamed up with Prima Games to release this free app available on iTunes now.
Skyrim Official World Interactive Map brings the 3200x zoomable world of Skyrim to your iPhone and iPad. Other apps of this sort, most notably Dragon Shout, are already available but lack the level of detail offered through Prima’s app. However, the app may not be quite stable yet on iPad 2, according to The Verge, they’re currently getting a ”Please wait while loading data” error. Another downside is the app is only currently available via the US App Store. Continue reading “Explore Skyrim With Official World Interactive Map for iPhone and iPad” »

It’s no secret that Apple leads the mobile industry in providing accessibility features to people with disabilities. Apple even published a “Commitment to Accessibility” on its website and has been awarded with several honors related to accessibility features like VoiceOver and support for braille displays in iOS 5. With Siri, Apple has an even greater opportunity to revolutionize the way disabled people interact with their devices.
One heartwarming example of this comes from a man who lost his voice as a child but recently took the stage for his very first stand-up comedy gig with the help of a text-to-voice app and an iPad.
ElectricPig pointed us to the video of Lee Ridley, aka ‘Lost Voice Guy’, who took the stage using the ‘Speak It!’ iPad app to covert text into the voice you hear in the video (below). Ridley has Continue reading “iPad Gives Disabled Comedian A Voice For First Stand-Up Gig” »

Rumors of a next-gen Xbox or PlayStation sporting a controller with a display inevitably makes us think of the Wii U controller. However the latest rumors originating from Xbox World Magazine (viaCVG) point towards something more powerful, described as closer to an iPad or Vita than Nintendo’s new controller design.
The report claimed the controller “will be a matt-black media hub with a mission to bring games to life in your living room”. To accomplish that, it will apparently have a built-in touch HD touchscreen, augmented reality, directional sound, and be a “four-player, finger-tracking Kinect”.
