Picture 55A new iPhone app is being released, it’s pretty gross, and it still costs $20. So why would anyone actually buy it? Well, it could potentially — and we mean potentially — save your life.

Known as Uchek, this particular app was created by Myshkin Ingawale — who aimed to give everyday, health-conscious citizens a way to conveniently analyze themselves for up to 25 different health conditions. He’s also CEO of Biosense, a company aimed at bringing more intricate disease-detecting technology to the poorer nations of Africa. iphone ejectEver wish you could pick up the phone while you were doing push-ups? How about answering the phone with your leg while you’re sitting on the john?

A Japanese Guy, dubbed on the internet simply as a Japanese Guy, currently has over 500,000 views for a video showing off a nifty, custom made quick draw system for your iPhone.

The product is two parts ingenious, three parts hilarious, as the device’s creator shows us different ways to use the quick draw system and poke your eye out all at the same time. Currently, there’s no word if the phone is for sale, or if you need your own lawyer just to use it in public. Ever take a picture that’s not random and awkward enough, and you could use some extra awkwardness and randomness?  Perhaps you have a hot friend or two that eerily resembles Minmei from Robotech you’d like to snap a pic of?

Great news: an app for anime lovers looking to turn their life into a real version of their favorite manga, called Manga-Camera, has what you need. In other words, this isn’t just some half-assed Photoshop filter, the guys behind it look like they really knew their sh*t. We should consider selling our stock, because it was only a matter of time…

Critics have questioned how long Apple could hold up WITHOUT the leader who crafted the company in his vision.

And now we know.

This week’s apology from Apple indicates more than a minor screw up or a chink in the armor for the near trillion dollar company, it’s representative of the huge paradigm shift that has taken place at Apple. Square Enix’s highly acclaimed DS title ‘The World Ends With You’ landed in the App store this weekend. The iOS version of the title is completely reworked for the platform and includes some added functionality as well.

Originally developed for the DS by personnel from Nintendo’s Kingdom Hearts team, ‘The World Ends With You’ (‘It’s A Wonderful World’ in Japan) is an action RPG set in modern day Shibuya, Tokyo. In the DS version, some complained the game can be complicated at times both because of its original approach to combat and the steep learning curve of the game’s battle system.

A recent study done by Gazelle, an electronics trade-in site, showed that nearly 15% of iPhone users would rather give up sex altogether rather than give up their iPhone for even a weekend.

4% even admitted to using their iPhone during sex, which sounds pretty bad — until you consider some of the iPhone apps that are out there –“Male Size iPhone app‘, the ‘ijiggly’ and the chance for a ménage à Trois (abeit virtual) with the ‘Pocket Mistress’ iPhone app — you get the idea. Last week, throngs of rabidly pro-Apple, anti-Samsung Australians gathered outside a Sydney Apple store, touting signs and shouting slogans for (presumably the customers) to ‘Wake Up.”  And despite Samsung denying any and all involvement in the protests, last week’s flash mob ignited speculation that the protest might have been staged by Samsung themselves.

A few people wouldn’t put it past them — they were, after all, behind the slew of advertisements late last year proclaiming that ‘iPhone Users Are Sheep’, featuring Apple fans and customers dressed as uber-hipsters sipping lattes.

While its not clear we’ll ever get our hands on concepts currently in Apple’s labs, a review of the new iPad from Anandtech has leaked details about a physical iPad controller Apple has in the works. At the same time we get a look at the brand new chrome line of Xbox 360 controllers officially announced by Microsoft today.

This isn’t the first time info has surfaced regarding a remote/controller concept from Apple. A patent that surfaced in April 2010 showed Apple was working on gaming accessories. The images in the patent showed a Nintendo DS-like design with a D-Pad, two game buttons and a touchscreen in the middle.

The report from Anandtech claimed Apple has an internal project dedicated to bringing a physical controller to market, but also noted it was uncertain whether the device would ever become available. We know there is certainly a market for physical controllers compatible with iOS devices and with confirmation Apple is working on it,  it’s entirely possible we’ll see an Apple branded gaming controller in the near future.

At the same time of rumors of a controller for iOS devices, Microsoft has confirmed today the availability of its chrome series of Xbox 360 controllers.

Available starting mid-May depending on your location, the controllers will come in red, blue, and chrome variants and sell for $55 through xbox.com/accessories and local retailers. Head past the break for images of the three controllers:

While it’s been rumored in the past, Blizzard is once again talking about World of Warcraft coming to mobile devices. Up until now the developer has only release the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory, an iOS app that allows you to view in game stats and manage auction house and guilds.

In an interview at Blizzard headquarters, Senior World of Warcraft producer John Lagrave talked with Eurogamer about the possibilities of bringing the game to mobile platforms like the iPhone. From the sounds of Lagrave’s comments, the company is having some trouble figuring out how to make the WoW experience work on the smaller screens. 22 year-old George Hotz, aka Geohot, is no stranger to trouble with the law — the former Google worker is most famous for having hacked the PS3 and jailbroken the 2008 iPhone. Apparently Mark Zuckerberg and co. saw something promising in the lad and hired him to work at Facebook (a company he’s reportedly since quit working for). According to ZDNet Hotz was on his way to the SXSW Festival when a a K-9 unit sniffed out the weed in his glove compartment, leading to cops busting him for possession.

He was booked on felony charges and posted the $1500 bail — all this despite the fact that Abovethelaw.com reported that he does have a medical license. On his person: 1/4 oz and 1/8 oz worth of edible weed chocolates, the latter of which was valued at $800 according to police (though Hotz claimed he had only paid $15 for them.) We first told you about this iPad/iPhone-controlled quadrocopter in our holiday gift list, and today the second generation AR Drone 2.0 is now officially up for preorder. The device comes with the same $300 price tag, but packs in a bunch of new features.

The new AR Drone is capable of capturing or live streaming 720p HD video right to YouTube at 30fps with a 92° wide-angle lens. There is also a new gesture, or “flip button”, that will make the device barrel roll in the air on command. Another new addition is a new USB port for capturing video from the built-in HD to a portable drive. The overall design of the drone is pretty much what we’ve seen before, but we’re not complaining.
