Half -Life was released nearly 15 years ago and was one of the main contributors to Valve achieving worldwide notoriety.
The cult hit shooter Half-Life appeared as a Mac and Linux download today on Steam, according to Cult of Mac via Polygon.
While no official statement has been made from Valve, the quiet release on Mac and Linux has been confirmed by several media outlets.

ECA Responds To National Rifle Association Blaming Sandy Hook On Video Games

The National Rifle Association is blaming violent entertainment as the cause of the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Both in a statement the NRA released this morning on its official website and in a press conference, the group’s executive vice president Wayne LaPierre said that violent crimes like the one that took place in Newton, Connecticut,are on the rise and “there exists in this country a callous, corrupt and corrupting shadow industry that sells, and sows, violence against its own people.”
LaPierre goes on to call out video games as one of these forms of “callous” entertainment. He said “vicious, violent video games with names like Bulletstorm, Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat and Splatterhouse” along with a ten year-old flash game called Kindergarten Killer, “…portray life as a joke and murder as a way of life.”

Over 14 million americans are unemployed…now imaging you’re one of them (that might not be too hard).
Your savings are gone, you’ve lost your house, you’re a single parent, and you’re down to your last $1,000…can you make it through the month? That’s the premise of the web-based, decision-making game Spent, which puts you in the shoes of nearly 44 million americans who live below the poverty line.
Is this another gimmicky web app to promote what is probably a good cause? After all, the game was sponsored by the Urban Ministries of Durham. Men…Stop Playing Video Games…You’re LOSERS?

This according to William Bennett, who was Secretary of Education under Reagan and who this week wrote an op-ed piece for CNN titled “Why Men Are in Trouble.” In it, Bennett lectures men on their masculinity (or lack thereof) and points to video games as a prime factor. Among his chief lamentations: in 1970, men earned 60% of all college degrees. As of 4 years ago, it was down to 43%.
Bennett goes on to cite male unemployment as a reason women are beating their asses economically. “In 1950,” he writes, “5% of men at the prime working age were unemployed.
