THE Video Game Orchestra, the Boston based music group that has been bringing video game music to life in what they call Rockestral, (rock + orchestra = win) is looking to fund its first Live Album. The group consists of over 100 musicians and has performed at the Boston Symphony Hall, Anime Boston, and was at Pax East earlier this year.
But in order to take on their next endeavor, which would include taking 100 musicians into a professional studio and mixing one of the first live albums to feature a Video Game Themed Orchestra, they need the help of fans to get them to $30,000.
So why should you care or be willing to split with a couple of bucks? Continue reading “Daily Deed: The Video Game Orchestra Needs Your Help to Make A Live Album” »

Google has just wrapped up their music event in LA where they unveiled their iTunes competitor dubbed “Google Music” with a heavy focus on Google+ and cloud integration.
Previously Google only had a Google Music beta available to US users, a cloud service that would allow users to upload and store their music. Today’s announcement brings an iTunes-like music store into the equation with songs available directly through a new storefront within the Android Market. Accessible both through the Market on Android devices and desktop browsers at music.google.com, the service is essentially the same as iTunes or any other online music store, with a few twists. If you haven’t gotten the chance to explore Apple’s new iTunes Match service in one of the betas leading up to today’s launch, this might very well be your first glimpse into how we will all be storing and accessing our music a year from now.
For those of you that are unfamiliar, iTunes Match kind of stands alone from the iTunes in the Cloud feature of iCloud. That service allows you to download your purchased iTunes music to any one of your devices through the cloud for free with an iCloud account.
iTunes Match, on the other hand, is a $25/per year service Continue reading “Apple Opens Up iTunes Match to the Public” »
