Minecraft‘s one of those games people really seem to either love or hate, for some very specific reasons. Some haters loathe the (to them) user-unfriendly interface that makes it impossible to play without the Minecraft wiki; lovers make use of the game’s array of creative features and immersing themselves in the world of it all.
YouTuber nuropsych1 definitely seems like one of the latter, and has this awesome Beetlejuice roller coaster to show for it. Continue reading “Guy Creates Epic BEETLEJUICE Minecraft Roller Coaster” »

There’s a reason it’s called March Madness, besides the fact that generally psychotic behavior overcomes basketball fans around the country every year around this time. Yep, the shockwaves Springtime sends outside the NCAA world can be felt even by those who wish to avoid it at all costs, or even don’t own a TV set.
For the reluctant learner, now there’s a translator that promises to make it a lot easier: Star Wars.

To any anxious Star Wars fans eagerly anticipating (dreading?) J.J. Abrams’ new take on the franchise, this video from The Stunt People may just sate your appetite for a short while. Or a long while, short though it may be. It’s that good.
Yesterday we posted an epic Star Wars/Schoolhouse Rock mash-up (which, yes, is actually a thing) and today it’s this video from the Stunt People.

When the now-infamous, anti-U.S.North Korean propaganda video aimed at the United States got pulled from YouTube the other day, questions ran amok: why was it pulled? Where did they get such life-like explosions?
Only one name could answer to both: Activision, mighty defender of U.S. copyright law and beat-downer of North Korean propaganda.

Suffice it to say that the new Ghost in the Shell anime, Arise, has generated its share of promoters and detractors: What the hell is it, exactly? Where does it belong in the GITS universe?
A glance at the forums on sites like Crunchyroll suggests no one’s found any clues as to what’s going on. Continue reading “Bandai to Celebrate New GHOST IN THE SHELL Movie With Free Streaming Online Event, Feb. 12” »

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will feature a free YouTube feature that will allow players to stream game content directly to their YouTube channel. Google will be allowing the direct streaming in real time when Activision launches the highly anticipated shooter next week (via AllThingsD).
Users will be able to easily link their YouTube account and begin streaming to their channel. There is also separate webcam and audio streams available allowing players to record themselves as well as the in-game screen capture.

So technically Eclectic Method isn’t a nerdcore rapper, so much as he is a cinema nerd who’s extremely talented at compiling random scenes and putting them to great music — sometimes his own, sometimes others — and making some pretty hypnotic videos out of them.
In “The Future”, he pays tribute to cinema’s most amazing visions of the future. There’s also been some pretty shitty visions as well, which Mr. Method dutifully points out here.
Here, Eclectic Method’s compiled everything from the Back to the Future movies to Minority Report to Idiocracy and especially Blade Continue reading “Daily Nerdcore: Eclectic Method Compiles Sci-Fi Cinema’s Greatest (And Worst) Futures” »

What happens when 60′s Robin tries to come to the aid of today’s Dark Knight? It ain’t pretty, that’s for sure.
Sure Christopher Nolan’s cornered the market on how we view Batman, but sketch comedy group Paulilu asks- what about the boy in tights?
Paulilu founders Paul and Lucia met at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York and have been making digital shorts since 2007. As you’ll see, their team up with Above Average productions has worked out much better than the Dark Night’s team up with the throwback boy wonder. The folks at Mojang tweeted this morning about the first episode in the Minecraft created Youtube TV series The Arcan Chronicles. The initial trailer and first episode have now been released and you can watch them below. The show is created by Arcanite Studios, a small team of 5 that decided “they wanted more out of the Minecraft experience” and in turn the machinima, The Arcan Chronicles, was born.

As the story unfolds , “the unlikely duo find themselves in the middle of a struggle that has festered quietly in the Kingdom for the past 25 years.” Kael and his mysterious companion set out on a journey to uncover the long lost secrets of the kingdom and “unravel a new mysterious threat plaguing the country side.” Continue reading “Amazing Minecraft Machinima, The Arcan Chronicles” »

Today’s gem comes to us from a group of 1337 YouTubers from all the way down in New Zealand. VivaLaDirtLeague has done what few musicians have done before: made sense out of the Jason Derulo song “In My Head”.
READ ALSO: (DUDE WHERE IS MY MUTALISK?)
Of course they had to do it by re-writing the lyrics, and also turning the auto tune meter down from 10 to 6.5, but in the end they managed to make a song that not only made sense but sent a positive message: Pwning noobs in Starcraft is one of the greatest/cheesiest feelings this side of raiding in WoW. First, the set-up: For Justin Bieber’s new contest, all you have to do is submit a song of yourself covering his new single, ‘Boyfriend’, via Youtube/Vimeo/whatever, and whomever has the most unique vision will appear on NBC’s Justin Bieber special, and get, I dunno, a sh*tload of hits and a meat tray or something.
As Geekosystem has pointed out, there’s a lot of eager teens submitting their videos, and doing the very best they can. Continue reading “This Girl Really Wants to Win That Justin Bieber Contest” »

If anyone remembers the original Mega Man cartoon that was around a few years back, you probably remember how awesome the introduction was. And that’s about it — as is the case with quite a few cartoons, yep, the general consensus is that the cartoon itself pretty much sucked balls.

Freddie Wong hits the nail on the head — if only we could all go back in time and warn the 10 year old in all of us that Sega Genesis, Goldeneye, and Syphon Filter would be the zenith of the gaming world.
But that’s exactly what Freddie does in his latest video, An Inconvenient Truth, which shows just how far video games have fallen (don’t even bring up Star Wars). Anybody who remembers Sonic and/or had to take piano lessons will appreciate this. For those of you who have no idea what any of the above means, and think iPods have been around as long as the dawn of time…I feel sorry for you. Watch the video and see just want might have been.

Couldn’t help but wonder at first if some people who actually need forearm crutches might be a little pissed — but I could be wrong.
Go on YouTube and you’ll find that some people border on being irritated with the display, mostly because no one’s really sure if this guy has any disability to begin with.
Still others are saying that the guy actually had polio as a child and lost partial use of his left leg, which would make Continue reading “Will Crutch-Dancing Be The Next Big Trend? Or Just Piss Some People Off?” »

In a recent article on BigThink, author Ayesha Khanna addresses problems in the world of learning music that seem all too legitimate: how do students/aspiring musical prodigies practice their instrument in a world increasingly on the go, where kids pack up and move along with their parents when they have to relocate?
What about finding a band to jam with, especially if you live in a remote town in the middle of nowhere? These are just two of the several problems that could be solved with the advent of Kinect and Julliard graduate Eric Whitacre’s ‘Virtual Choir’ concept.
The difficulties of a) keeping the same music teacher and regularly practicing Continue reading “Is This the Future of Music? Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Symphony” »

While noting “regulators globally have been calling for shorter, simpler privacy policies”, yesterday Google announced it would be completely revamping its own by taking over 60 from various Google services and creating a new, single policy for all users. The approach reflects Google’s recent attempts to integrate its biggest products into a single, cohesive experience.
The new privacy policy and terms of service will go into effect March 1st, and will apply to the majority of Google account users from various services including Gmail, Picasa, YouTube, Google+.
