During an investors call yesterday (via The Guardian), Activision Publishing’s CEO Eric Hirshberg talked about how the next Call of Duty game “will bring meaningful innovation to the series.”

Unfortunately Hirshberg didn’t explain further, but for a game which is for the most part the same thing over and over again, his statement could mean big changes for the next CoD (Black Ops 2?).

We also learned that Call of Duty Elite 2.0 is coming with a future update promised by Activision (more…)

Rumors of a next-gen Xbox or PlayStation sporting a controller with a display inevitably makes us think of the Wii U controller. However the latest rumors originating from Xbox World Magazine (viaCVG) point towards something more powerful, described as closer to an iPad or Vita than Nintendo’s new controller design.

The report claimed the controller “will be a matt-black media hub with a mission to bring games to life in your living room”. To accomplish that, it will apparently have a built-in touch HD touchscreen, augmented reality, directional sound, and be a “four-player, finger-tracking Kinect”. (more…)

We’ve seen some pretty incredible Minecraft creations in our time. We already showed you an epic stop motion Super Mario Land recreation, and also some impressive Steve Jobs tributes, just to name a few. However this is the first time we’ve seen a scale recreation of World of Warcraft’s Kalimdor continent, and soon to be the entire game…

The creator, MMO Champion forum member “Ramsesakama”, apparently used scripts and other custom software to “generate most of the content procedurally”. He started with Kalimdor, but plans to recreat the entire game using the exact same process. He explained in his forum post that he had to “compute the relative distances (in Minecraft blocks) between the different locations in Kalimdor”: (more…)

When you hear someone talking about hunting a troll named Nimrod Severn, you might think that they were relaying an MMORPG experience (or maybe, if they’re old school, a game of Zork).

In this case, however, it’s about one BBC investigative reporter’s quest to hunt down a particularly offensive — and very real — Internet troll. Knowing full well there’s plenty of guys like this out there, we don’t advise you doing this on your own. But in this particular case, found on Geekologie, offender Nimrod Severn is actually a guy named (more…)

Remember when we told you that Diablo III was scheduled for an “early 2012″ release? And then just last month a rumored February-March launch date stemming from leaked BestBuy ads? Not only will Blizzard not confirm a console port in the works, but during an earnings call yesterday the company revealed Diablo III is now once again being delayed until later in the year.

GiantBomb quoted Blizzard co-founder and president Michael Morhaime saying that more details would be released “in the coming weeks” and (more…)

mc frontalot puppetsMC Frontalot has made a lot of awesome videos. Some of them feature bears in jet packs, others the recipe for toilet paper — the kind of irreverent topics that we’ve likely never taken time to think about, but since you mention it, hey, we’d really like to know! And from the twisted minds of Max Isaacson and Frontalot, we have what may be his best yet: “Stoop Sale.”

And not just because it’s a masterfully clever re-creation of what the legendary Brooklyn equivalent of a yard sale is, but (more…)

Apple employee shows iPad 2 in ChicagoMost of the industry expect Apple to follow its usual iPad release window and make an announcement in March with customers getting their hands on the device shortly after. Today we get some solid confirmation from the typically accurate AllThingsD who say Apple will indeed be hosting an event for the next-gen iPad during the first week of March. Here’s what to expect.

First of all there have been some rumors that the device will be dubbed the iPad 2S, or something else, opposed to iPad 3. Most rumors back up a much better HD display, more powerful processor and GPU, but leaked casings (more…)

portal gunThe question isn’t ‘who wants a Portal gun?’, but more ‘who the f*ck doesn’t want a Portal gun?’

Hand-crafted by sci-fi consumer products company NECA, these babies seem pretty close to the real thing. Of course, at a rather dicey $170, they also don’t come cheap. They’ll be available beginning in April, straight outta Japan via Hobby-Search. And while they look pretty badass (more…)

“If I were to go to a publisher right now and pitch an adventure game, they’d laugh in my face,” said Schafer in a video on the project’s page (below). (more…)

No way around it — abortion’s one of those topics which elicits some insanely heated debate.

Everyone has an opinion on it, and from those Oxygen/Lifetime movies, to the big screen, lots of people have their agenda and love to shove it in the viewer’s face.

Except for Joss Whedon, apparently, who insists that his latest issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is neither pro-abortion/anti-abortion/anything in between (more…)

Bethesda’s Todd Howard recently took the stage at DICE 2012 in Las Vegas (via Eurogamer), and during his speech revealed some never before seen, and yet to be implemented features his team developed for Skyrim following completing the game.

Howard explained the team was given a week as part of an internal Game Jam with only one task: “Do whatever you want and put it in the game.” The results of the team’s work were complied into a video reel (below) and could possibly make it into future DLC… (more…)

Political movements are a dime a dozen these days, with political primaries hitting their stride and dousing us with TV advertisments that would even make most cell phone companies wonder “where does the money came from?”

But here’s a commercial that gets it; a video that doesn’t shove a message down our throats but conceptualizes a problem in a way where we can all understand it…using something that’s become something of a lost art: humor. (more…)

Widely regarded as one of the most prominent NERDCORE musicians on the planet, YT Cracker gets plenty of   recognition, but we can’t help but plug his FREE album after the chronic trigger viral video went crazy, yesterday.

On top of all his infamous exploits hacking and defacing websites as a teenager, Cracker remains a big proponent of giving away free sh*t, including his music — which, incidentally, at this point in his career consists of about 500 tracks. (more…)

In a somewhat surprising move for Google, coming after the introduction of its controversial new privacy policy, a new Google program called Screenwise is paying users who surf the web using the Google Chrome browser as long as they agree to give up their personal browsing data.

Spotted by SearchEngineLand, Google’s signup page for the program claims to offer up to $25 in Amazon gift codes to participants. You’ll get a $5 Amazon gift code just to sign up and install a necessary browser extension, and an additional $5 code for every three months you stick around in the program. It’s completely opt-in, but opting in will mean (more…)
